I already used the search button.

Can anyone give me a little step by step on changing my gear oil? Or just give me a link that describes it? Differential oil too.

I feel like an *******, I can swap an engine with my friend but don't know where to look to change f***ing oil. Any help would be appreciated.

Pull the shifter out. You first have to pull shift knob off then that plastic piece that goes over cd player/stick and then there is a rubber shifter boot type thing take off. Get a set of needle nose pliers and there are 2 rings holding in the shifter, get those out, pull shifter out, open gear oil, pour gear oil in, then put shifter back in, and have fun putting rings back on, they suck, put rubber shifter on then your center console piece then shift knob :)

Where do I drain the gear oil from? I knew about taking out the shifter.

I was asking about both differential oil and gear oil. I can handle the engine oil, if I couldn't do that I'd have someone just shoot me on the spot.

Is your transmission auto or manual?

I used mobil 1 syntheic for my transmission, its expensive but suppose to work :) IF its like syntheic car oil, once u go syn you cant go back. Also redline is suppose to be good. Cant remember what numbers though.

75w90, I have no LSD so I bought the same for both. I bought Mobil 1 too, but they only had two quarts so I bought one of Castrol synthetic. Trying to keep it all synthetic. Redline is supposed to be the best, but I didn't feel like ordering it online....no one by me sells it.

Its a trade-off. Synthetic oil does perform better, but your rubber seals and gaskets will not last as long. And whats with 'once you use synthetic you won't go back'? is that written in stone or your opinion. I use synthetic currently but plan to use good quality unsynthetic next time because it gets expensive every 5,ooo kms. I figure I'll use synthetic once every couple oil changes because it decreases the amount of crap built up on internal surfaces. Am I wrong? C'mon someone correct me.

peace. don't wanna start a fight just statin' my op.

So really, where do I empty the gear oil from?

You can go back after using synthetic.

I assume you are talking about the rear differential gear oil. If so, look on the back of the "pumpkin" or differential, there are two plugs that have square holes in them. Remove the lower one with a 3/4 inch rachet head. let it drain. replace plug. remove upper plug, fill till its full. replace upper plug and enjoy.

When changing the Differental fliud have a fun time getting the bolts off. On my car it was a b****. Man it sucked. I used Moble 1. BTW you will probably get more differnetal fliud out then in becuase they fill it up with it out of the car, and the fill hole isn't on the very top of the diff. I have never hear of any true fact backed by tests that says there are dissadvatages to the use of synthitic, other than price.

Again, does anyone know how to drain the GEAR OIL? I'd like to do it before I grind all the teeth off of my gears.

the same way the diferential oil is changed, 2 square bolts that you put your ratchet head in there, and take it off, you just need to remove the drain plug, and take off your shifter.

Don't freak at it, and take a look you will find it with ease.
