I finally ordered the tires for the Jeep on Thursday from Tire Discounters and they arrived yesterday, so I dropped it off to get them installed. I'm very pleased with the tires I chose.

They're 245/70 R17 Hankook Dynapro AT-Ms, which they were also running $100 off coupon on this month. I had been researching tires for the past month and these always stayed at the top of the list.

The old set was a set of crappy 245/65R17(stock size) Mastercraft Courser HTR's, which did fine while they were on it, but the sidewalls on them were very prone to damage. The new ones are just over an inch taller(stock tires were 29.1" tall and these are 30.8" tall), which was what I was looking for. The stock tires looked way too small on it in my opinion and it made it look too much like a pavement pounder ;)

Next up will be a 2" lift kit, front brush guard and a factory fog light kit, which will hopefully be soon. I'm dying to go test it out on some trails now, I just haven't found any good ones locally yet

Aww I was hoping for burning rubber. Sweet deal though. The NTBs and Merchants have buy 2 get 2 free (+ install) every now and then, which is a hell of a deal if you ask me. They dont carry Hankooks though, normally just Geolanders and BFGoodrich's. Not that those are bad but they have deep mud tread and they make alot of noise.

If you bought taller profile tires, you might want to get your speedometer recalibrated.

The only bad thing about the Buy 2, Get 2, you HAVE to buy the premium install package ($19.99/ea-$29.99/ea) and an alignment. So in the end, you're not really saving all that much. I used to be a Service Manager for NTB so..yeah. Haha.

Hooray for new tire day!

I doubt the Jeep could even burn rubber, with it being a V6 AWD, but here's a pic of me boiling off a BFG A/T KO on my old Ranger

Yeah, i'm gonna check it sometime over the next couple of days. From what i've read, this size only knocks it off by 1mph on the Commander, but I want to be sure.

Exactly. Plus I really despise the NTB's here... they all suck. Tire Discounters includes everything in the price, including the alignment. I walked out the door for $720 for everything and the only way I could've got them cheaper would have been getting them online. I would've save $60, but would've still had to pay to have them installed somewhere.

I did not know the premium package. I was the guy in back, worst job ever. What is the difference in packages anyways??

But if you need alignment anyways, which is recommended with new tires anyways, still a fair deal to me.

New tires always feel good n sticky

Tire Discounters is a local chain from what I can see, but don't sell online. I don't see any locations outside of KY and IN on their site and Google didn't show any up your way.

If I were buying online, i'd buy from Discount Tire Direct personally. They have a large selection of tires at a great price and they were a local retailer back in GA that we used. The only reason I didn't end up buying from them is because it would've only saved me $10-20 to have them shipped here and have them installed myself. To me it wasn't worth that much hassle.

The premo package is the road hazard. I started off as a tire/lube guy and worked to lead tech to sales to service mgr. Took about 8 years though.

Yeah I never heard of that lol. They just told us to do whatever was on the ticket, and that we did. We didnt include anything special if we were supposed to, like most shops do. I coulda been at sales in less than a year (was only there for 5 months) because I was one of the only ones that actually did any work quickly. I mean christ half the people didnt even know what pliers were.

Unfortunately it's a huge subdivision construction site with huge "NO TRESPASSING" signs up, so i've ignored my urge to go play in it. I've thought about sneaking in there one afternoon when I have some time, because they haven't built any new homes in a while, but there's too much traffic and people around to risk. It is one of my favorite areas locally to take pictures though.
