I just checked my last 6 tanks, 38.7 mpg over 2541 miles. The engine must finally be broken in. There has been a slight trend upward all spring & early summer. I am glad Shell doesn't water down the gas with 10% ethonal in the summer.

I will add I don't know if the AC works in my car. I go to work before sun-up & return after the afternoon storms. Plus fresh air is nice after being stuck in an office cubbicle for 8 hrs.

I will see what this next tank is. I accidentally put in 85 octane. The gas station switched the pumps around & put the 85 in the middle where the 87 used to be.

I have about 15500 miles, all but 300 or so with Mobile 1 synthetic oil changed at 3750 miles. I am now going to go to 5000 miles change intervals.

Well I just bought a new versa about 2 weeks ago.. I'm very happy with it and I really enjoy having all the nice features.. (I still have my old car but i dont drive it as much as I used to.. It was a 1972 VW superbeetle) Anyway I noticed you got some really good mpg and I noticed some very mixed reviews on the mpgs rating.. I have a CVT and when I take off I let it get to 2k for a second then I back off it and let it settle to around 1100 to 1200 rpms all the way up to the speed limit.. I've been babying this car like I usually baby my vw to get around 25 to 28 mpg in the city.. Well In the versa it seems that my baby techniques have no effect though i've read that you must get past the break in period and I've read of most people haveing around 25 or higher mpg during the break in period.. So would 23 to 22 be still sorta good for the break in? I was really hoping I would be getitng around 30 right off the lot but I guess I didn't research that one as much..

Wow! those are some really impressive numbers! do you go faster then 60 mph? My best MPG has been 32 at a top speed of 60 mph.

It beats me why this car can get over 35 in the summer driving 70 MPH with the a/c on and a 30 MPH cross wind.

In the winter, I baby it around and barely get 27.

Oxygenated fuels have the reverse effect on pollution. Sure they reduce what comes out the tailpipe per gallon, but the saving is negated by burning more fuel.

The EPA needs to learn to look at the bigger picture sometimes.

There was a news article in Denver about E10 gas being worse for pollution than straight gas. So it makes more pollution & lower mileage...Way to go EPA!!!
