So another reason why i feel that this car is the most superior car ever built is because while i was on a trip to meet a client my alternator belt went out... All the belts have less than 15,000 miles on them but somehow it failed. Not a problem for me i simply pulled over to a gas station and asked for the closest garage and he directed me to one about 5 miles away. I went to the appointment I had and helped my client and closed the deal. I left with a smile and headed to the nearest garage and had them change it out. Sadly i had to tell them to remove the fan and how to get the belt on. Another thanks to the FSM!!! This was such a great incident for me since as i read in the FSM i understood Nissan was smart enough to use 3 different belts to run the most important parts of the car, so in case of a incident like that the car wont kill it self from a simple belt problem. Feel free to discuss similar incidents if you guys had any. I’de love to hear them. When I told my dad he smiled and said you gave me another reason to love your car!

^edit is done hhaha

Bet you had a least one bad bearing on a tensioning pulley.

Did you replace it?

I hope the Q is ok Gammer......

We had the same thing happen to us on a vegas trip. My dad knew that they were going to go bad so we bought the belts the day before and didn't have time to put them on. We were just half way through the trip when my dad said "If we make it there it's going to be a miracle" right when he finished the belt snapped. We pulled to the closest shop and they changed it in no time. It's rare that my dad thanks the Infiniti techs for building the car the way they did

You don't have to remove the fan to replace the belts, but great story nontheless. Glad you made it without any problems.

It might be different in his Q. He doesn't have a G50.

Actually i went to my local shop today and asked them which belts they changed and they changed the bottom two so i guess the top one was just very old... but its ok.

very true only 4 bolts and a little play with the ignition switch to turn the crank so the bottom bolts could be reached easaly. lol.

Usually all the belts and bad pullley bearings are replaced at once so the labor is not repeated when the old belt you left on or the pulley bearing you didn't replace breaks in a few thousand more miles.

Each item is abuot $20, but labor is around $150 depending where you are.

Think pro-active and preventative and you will spend less and not be surprised by failures.
