Nice man, I wish I had done some headwork before I put mine back together. How long did the rebuild take you?

From start to finish about a year,I worked very very slow. The motor was on the stand for a long time,And the local shop i got the RAS from took a few months to get them in,dont know why?

I was looking at the exhaust parts you have done,And i was wondering if your downpipe ever hits the bottom of your car?I have the greddy turbo elbow and RS*R Exmag like you,But I got the XS downpipe. And my downpipe has been hitting my floor since i put it back together.

basically any clutch is fine for drifting, i mean an upgraded one is obviously better especially on a hot day banging through 1st, 2nd, 3rd but as long as it doesnt slip from a hard shift or two youll be fine with any upgraded one...i used to have a clutchmasters stage one and it grabbed alot harder than stock, not too much at all.....

right, but i mainly wanted to know if the exedy stage 2 is streetable or a PITA to get around town.

Its alright,It holds the power very very well never slips,But is pretty rough for daily driving,It jerks the car alittle from a stop, and you can feel it when you shift into almost any gear at any rpm.Its fine if you dont drag the clutch. Its a good price for what you get,I think,But next time around im going to get the ACT street clutch.

I have heard that in order to install a metal headgasket the head and the block have to be...hmm...smoothed? Basically they have to be taken to a shop to esure that they are completely flat. Thus making a metal headgasket more than a bolt on affair, is this true?

i'm pretty sure that's only if you overheated the car and the head or block got warped.

but other than that, you "should" be cool

but i'm no mechanic so dont take my word for it

yes, it's a good idea to get your head and blocked decked to fit. I would assume they are already flat though since there wasn't much machining done. only when you do a complete rebuild (pistons, rods, etc.) should you worry about the deck. be sure to use some copper gasket in case there a small area that's not completely flat.

I use spec stage 3 w/ 6 puck and its easy for daily drive and bad *** for drift.. i didn't really notice much difference between the stock clutch and the spec. be sure to install the clutch correctly and do a proper break in period. if you want it soft, then do not remove the clutch box in between the clutch line and master cylinder.

I put a metal head gasket on mine without any of that, sure it micro-leaks, but it doesnt matter unless you only change your oil every 2 million miles.

Although next time, Im going to do everything proper.

i personally wouldnt consider changing any head gasket a "bolt on" affair. theres a little more to it than just taking some bolts off and putting them back on.

I used the term "bolt-on affair" pretty loosely, sorry. I've done it before and I understand that its a lot of work but what I was trying to ask was whether the block and head had to be decked.

no, it doesn't "have" to, but just get it looked at before you do put everything back together.. better safe than sorry. like I said before, use some copper spray gasket and it'll cover up the micro leaks.

I had a helluva time getting my GReddy RAS's in, but it didn't take me months!

The issue is that the RAS gets in the way of the hexagonal portion of the cam that you use to tighten the cam sprockets on.

+1 more for the love of the SR. I just put my front mount on after almost a year of the side mount @10psi. OMG!!! it pulls a lot harder and it feels soo much better through the rpm's. I feel sorry for those who do all these things at the time of their swap... feeling your car progress with every mod is something everyone should go through, even if only once.

Yeah, that what I was thinking about how I'm doing my swap. I'm adding a few things now to save me time... manifold, FMIC, etc.. Sucks because I won't be ale to feel the upgrade, but I can't complain too much.

How much did the rebuild cost you? I got two motorsets for this reason. I'm debating wether to tear one down to reuild it.
