I really do not. I hate them with a passion and I seem to have one right now that I am unable to find any suggestions? I already made a boost leak tester but i have not found anything. I got a new turbo because I thought that the internal wastegate hole that I go welded had cracked, it didnt. Well with the new turbo i am getting 10lbs of boost around 4k. I have a precision t3/to4e 57 trim w/ .48 a/r housing turbo w/ stage 3 wheel. I checked the pipes and there are no leaks. My vacuum is at 20. I checked all the hoses for wastegate, bov, map sensor, and gauges. I cant find anything. The day that this had happened, me and my friend went out late at night to go cruising. About halfway through our cruise I had realized that boost was kicking in about 1k late. That was with the t3 super 60. Does anyone have any suggestions so I can find this stupid leak?

My vaccum was showing perfect. Went to upgrade FMIC and found out theat the coupler had a cut all the way through it... I use a PVC cap and put it on my 1st coupler where the turbo outlet would be...

Check your couplers for sure. I'm in the midst of a pesky recurring boost leak, among other leaks. I changed some couplers and clamps and that helped for 1/2 a day, but now I'm dealing with bolts from turbo to dp loosening up(I actually lost one today) and also from wg to dump pipe loosening up.....

FUN STUFF!!!

use hairspray people... hairspray. Aquanet FTW!oh and with the boost leak detector, make a spray bottle with a soapy water mix in it, and spray all your joints/connections and check for bubbles.

Are you sure it's a boost leak? Am exhaust leak between the turbo and motor can cause a similar effect. Albeit a bit noisier. Also, does the motor stumble at all when you close the throttle and push in the clutch while boosting? If so, it's likely a boost leak. If not, check the exhaust side too.

I was gonna say the same thing. I had a crack on the pipe leading to the wastegate. Which eventually broke off, but before it broke, boost was slow to come on and it was loud.

I just put a new turbo on i am sure i tightend everything down good. I had the same problem with my old turbo also. My car doesnt sound like it has a exhaust leak. It doesnt stumble at all. I will check it out in the morning. Can a leak in the egr cause this? I also replaced all the couplers and put new clamps on them. Same thing. Is it normal for the greddy type rs to whistle when you let of the gas and put the car in neutral?

I just took everything yesterday. I looked at all the couplers and I found nothing. I retightened all the clamps down as tight as I could. When I took it for a test drive I was still hitting 10psi by 4k.

Being tight doesn't mean there is no leak. gaskets can fail and in some cases, especially with external wastegates, if things don't line up well, it's quite easy to have a poor seal somewhere while the nuts and bolts appear tight.

You might also pull off the intake pipe to the compressor and make sure the wheel is spinning freely and there is no excessive shaft play. A bad turbo can cause poor performance as well.

off topic a lil ,, but i fixed my boost leak yesterday. i have been boosted for a bit now, and the car felt sooooooo much stronger.

i eliminated and caped off all that emissions bs which brought the number of possible leaks down. also check the hoses under you runners, they are old and get very hard and crack. may have to replace with new silicon hose.

I was about to say that. If you dont have strict emissions law, cap off everything you dont need and buy a blockoff plate for the EGR. Also, if you are using t-bolt clamps, make sure they are real tight. Check the blowoff like someone said. What blowoff valve are you running by the way? Check your intercooler for poor welds if you are running an Ebay one. My guess is, if you are pulling 20 in-hg with the throttle body closed, the leak is beofre the throttle body.

The blow off valve flutters. It whistles when I let of the gas and put it in neutral. I usually only here it when I am in a parking lot going slow. Other then that the car is to lous to hear the whistle.

My RS doesn't flutter, more like a whooshing sound when I let of the gas under boost. I read a thread here on NICO about the RS and followed the steps to avoid the fluttering/surge. Helped out alot.

What do you do about smog?

Witht the t3 super 60 i use to get the whoosh sound you are talking about with no fluttering. With the new turbo it flutters for some reason. Even with the screw all the way out. I cant find the thread about the rs. I already ordered the tial bov so we will see what happens when it gets in. I also ordered a new wastegate gasket. I have to go to a place in town for smog.

edit - I just found the link
