I lost to a non-vtec stock civic!!! Help!

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

Ok now that i have your attention, one of my friends has a stock, non-vtec civic. i didnt exatly lose, but i was steadily right next to him until third, then i started to pull. I should have been pulling on him from start to finish...I have been notcicing a loss of power.....What could my problem be?

check your timing. If you advanced it but did it wrong, the ecu goes all kinds of nuts and your timing will never sit still until you time it correctly.

Other than that, we're going to need some more information.

well, I just had the headgasket/resurfaced head/ valve job done, and my mechanic ajdusted the timing right....what more information? it is a 93 DOHC KA, w/ a AEM short ram intake, and a flowmaster exhaust.....I have done new-spark plugs/wires-fuel filter-o2 sensor...Is there two o2 sensors?-flexalite fans...etc etc anything else you need to know? btw btw..I have to give the car gas at cold start up for it to start up...

Yeah, KA's are really really slow. Sad but true.

A stock SOHC civic is like an 18 second car. A stock 240 runs from between 15.4-16.1 (depending on a lot of things, but just about everything I've heard falls in there). Even if he's not that good of a driver, with those mods, he should be walking all over civics. Easily.

Turns out my Throttle Position Sensor is UPSIDE DOWN, and I still waste civics in my 240.

every once in a while, if i dont give it gas, it wont start..

Change everything that u can at a auto parts store such as oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, and keep your car clean.
