After doing some looking around, I've discovered some differences in the original 2003 G35s and the later (2003.5 and on) models. My car was built in May 2002, so I'm considered a 2003 instead of a 2003.5, I guess.

1. The trunk badging and trunk latch are vastly different. In fact, on the early models, you cannot open the trunk from inside the car (unless you use the key fob).2. Embroidered Infiniti emblem on the front seats. The earlier models only have the emblem "stamped" into the leather, not stitched. 3. The early models do not have a power outlet on the right side of the radio panel; only on the left side. 4. It appears that some of the earliest models didn't even have the rear heat/AC outlet coming from the middle console (mine DOES).

If anyone knows of any other differences, I'd love to hear them.

It looks like the original model year was rushed out to the public as a "work in progress". Oh well...I guess it sort of makes my car a little more unique, if nothing else. How many other "early birds" are out there besides me?

how exactly does the power outlet on the right side of the console work?

aka. right side cigarette lighter.

The rear output is actually a premium upgrade. My 06 doesn't have it, because I was trying to keep my payments down, plus I didn't wan't bose, navi, or a sunroof, which kills all the premium packages that I saw at the dealer.

The only place that I have outlets are on the left side of the dash and in the console storage bin.
