firstly, do you even have an SR? :D secondly, the SR is the motor that was originally supposed to belong in our 240's to begin with, and we as JDM enthusiaths, nissan fans, and sport car fans like to call it a major upgrade or step up if you will. also, if you want to put it in a proper sense, the USDM 240SX's have KA24's in them, also known as a small truck motor found in many nissan trucks. a truck motor isnt exactly sporty. :thinker :thinker :thinker

Just so you know, the SR20 was also a truck engine. Everyone talks crap about the KA cause it was a truck engine, a lot of cars produced by major companies will use the same engine in a truck that is used in a sports car... you want power in both of them (yes I know you want different types of power usually).

because it takes to mods very nicely and i can run up to almost 350hp before considering rebuilding the internals. it's just a bad *** engine.

350 is only in theory for some. Personally I think the 91+ year engines will actually be able to withstand somewhere in the ballpark of 450 or even more! If a regular FWD SR20DE with stock bottom end and a bolt-on turbo can produce 402hp at the wheels, I think the turbo SR can do better because it was built to suit the turbo to begin with.

It's the character of the engine - the KA works just fine ('specially with boost) and can be just as fast. Jason (st00pid) here in Houston built a 10.x second KA with stock internals, so it's not like it hasn't been done.

I just don't like the slow revving nature of the KA - to me a sports car should be pretty rev happy (not quite Honda levels, but not bad), and fun to drive. I don't find my current KA fun, just effective.

SR20DET coming soon. :) I've actually thought about the CA, since it's undersquare bore vs stroke, and SR is square, but I don't think I'll want to go through the hassle.

You must not have the SR20 yet because you wouldn't be asking that kind of question.

I personally like the SR because it keeps my heart rate up! Everytime you accelerate you get that feeling like when you are on a roller coaster just as you begin to drop. It makes your 240 the fastest car around town, and even at the track. I can't express how much I love my 240, go ahead and buy that SR20det!!!

sure it can take more hp on stock internals. a lot of people say at least 400hp. i was just saying 350hp when u might want to START looking into rebuilding it just to be safe. it wouldn't surprise me at all if it could handle 450.

i guess it's all depents how long you want to keep your engine, and who tune your car.

if ur talking about on the stock t25 or t28 turbo the turbo would be way out of it's efficiency range and would probably make less power than if it was only at 15 or 16psi(approx. max efficiency). on an aftermarket turbo it just depends on what size of turbo it is to find out how much boost it could handle.

i heard the peak efficiency of the t-25 was at about 1 bar or 14psi (14.7) and the featured car of the month on http://www.enjukuracing.com pulled a 12.80@109 mph on stock turbo and daily driven
