Anybody who is wanting to do their first upgrades to their car go buy a K&N air filter. For $60 you cant get anything better.

Mine finally arrived a few weeks ago and I have already noticed improved throttle response, fuel efficiency, and you can hear the engine breathing much better. For the 2.5S the model number is #33-2374, these air filters will not void any warranties and are a great buy.

I am using this until K&N releases their intake system for our cars.

meh, when your filter gets dirty then replace with K&N, but really come on you ain't gonna see or feel or hear anything...listen K&N products are great, but there is absolutely no reason to replace your air filter unless you have at least 15K miles on it and even that is a stretch...

I have put a K&N intake in all of my vehicles except this one...we'll see when one comes out for the 3.5

i don't know about that. my car had about 13k or 14k miles on it and i changed the filter with just a fram filter and noticed a difference in performance. could be cuz i live in elk grove (the fastest growing city in america) and theres always construction and dirt going around.... plus i drive it hard lol but ya, at 14k my filter was HELLA DIRTY!!! same with my mom's 07 Maxima. so a K&N filter at around 10k miles or a lil less isn't a bad idea depending on where you live....... im just going to go AEM short ram/CAI

60 bux! Sheesh..I'll just wait until i'm in need of one. Probably around the next oil change. Unless that intake comes out before then.

+1 .....id rather put that $60 toward the K&N intake and stick with the stock filter for a couple more weeks......months?

I put my filter in when I had about 8000km on my vehicle, and the improvement was noticeable. I experience less lag in acceleration and am getting more km's per tank. Plus, you never have to replace it...except for when the K&N intake arrives.

I did not realize $60 was a lot, especially considering most of our vehicles were close to the $30000 mark.

I disagree regarding the 15k filter change. I've cleaned my K&N drop-in 3 times in the past 10k miles.

I think the filter is worth it for $60. Who knows when the WAI will be coming out...and I want more power NOW!!!

Ain't gonna get much with a WAI or Short Ram maybe 2-3hp...maybe, I don'tcare what the company's dyno says on that perfect day under perfect conditions +12 HP on the VQ at the wheels, no frigging way

But you will get a more beefy egine tone and should get a slightly better throttle response which makes people think they have bolted on a ton of HP..it is possible to increase gas mileage with an exhaust and intake as well, my Titan loved the K&N Intake and Borla cat-back...I got 1 to 1.5 mpg more at cruising speeds...I had a trip to North Cackalacki and got 19.1 mpg in the Titan thats damn good...

And yeah it does matter where you live as to the life of an air filter, especially california where you can cut the air with a knife..hey but K&N's can be cleaned and reused so that makes it cool, I'll drop one in when mine gets dirty... I'm just saying there no way(people always rationalize purchases) that you are seeing any performance increase with a drop in...

Thats a bit much for socal buddy. You should only need to clean it once ever 8-12k miles, depending on your environment

Nice contadiction, I would associate throttle response with performance.

I was referring to the WAI on the throttle response and beefy tone...not the drop in....read before you make a comment

I have the K & N, only because i didnt want to put the cold air intakes on and off to get the car serviced at the dealer. I would say its a good alternative to CAI, better acceleration through mid rpm, and much better during WOT, when you click the pedal

You shouldn't have to take the intake off every time you go to service. They can't deny your warranty unless the item specifically causes the related system to fail.

Blake,

If it's dirty, I'm going to clean it. I'm not talking about a little dust. We're talking twigs, leaves, and a few tablespoonfuls of dirt.

Correct, a cold air intake will not void the car's warranty unless Nissan can prove in a court of law that your modification caused a part failure. Even if it did, if you push it, Nissan will give in long before going to court.

I know it was passed in the USA that the aftermarket part has to cause the problem for the warranty to void.

Does anyone know if the same law is applicable in Canada?
