They just sent me a love letter letting me know my latest order just shipped. Where else can I get my school books, CDs, my new guitar, and tear away underwear in the same order and have it boxed and on the way the same day? Capitalism is awesome! I don't put much value in most of the ubiquitous pillars of the internet like social networking, google G-spy and the like, but dam I sure would miss the Zon if the site went dead tomorrow.

Sure, sometimes they scratch the surface of creepy guessing what I would be interested in based on the other stuff I buy, but I think I am bothered less by the stuff they guess wrong than the things they hit square on the head. I click the link and say "WTF? I don't,,hmm, well, that is a clever set of nipple clamps slash book lights with built-in MP-3 player." Quite practical.

Amazon is excellent, not my primary source of goods but excellent. I compare prices between Amazon and Ebay very often before buying stuff. The good side of Amazon is that the price is fixed, and you buy the items instanly, while that on Ebay most of the items will be under the bid system.

Thanks to Amazon, I bought to a teacher a new movie projector ten times less its regular price, and at home we enjoy movies with an added sound system that fill up the room with sodas and home made popcorn. Thanks to Amazon I applied to its Visa card and received money back after collecting more points when used to buy goods from them.

The quality of the products that Amazon sells are for me higher than average, still reading the consumer's reviews, sometimes they also sell crap.

But in general, I mostly buy books and shop equipment at Amazon, and until today I have had no problems doing so.

On the other hand, I have sold items on Ebay, and I might try to do the same on Amazon, who knows, I might enjoy better selling stuff at a fixed price...

Amazon Prime is awesome. Free 2-day shipping on supplies means I don't have to stockpile this stuff like I used to, and the cost per unit is still very low. Its like JIT for a small business.

Borders and BN physical stores only seem to carry self-help and romance novel garbage these days, so when I want something on business or investing [that they almost never have in stock] I can usually get the Kindle version for cheap.

Dang, I was hoping this was a thread about tall, hot, assertive women. But I've had all good experiences so far with Amazon the business. My wife has purchased enough for the free shipping which makes it even better.

From: http://animal.discovery.com/fish/river- ... os-04.html

"A close relative of the piranha, the payara is often called the "vampire fish" because of its long fangs, which can grow to 6 inches in length. This little-known but frightening-looking fish is found in the Orinoco River in Venezuela. "

True to form my guitar, amp and case got all the way to Japan in a few days. I'll post up some pics when I get home, but it's pretty cool.

But wait, Oh Noes! My axe is chipped up! Some mouthbreathing, knuckle-dragging troglodyte chucked the box hard enough to crush and break the foam and cardboard of the box and put a nasty chip on the end. :tantrum:

Maybe Pete Townshend works at the post Office these days?

25 years I wait to get a chipped guitar? I'm sort of pissed. I'm not really heated for a couple of reasons. First, this is the lowest rank guitar this manufacturer makes and only set me back 2 bills. If it was a $1 k Dean zero I would be be ready to chop off somebody's fingers with tin snips. Second, it's the post office for crying out loud. I surprised the neck isn't snapped off. Third, eventually everything gets dinged up. I'm a huge clutz and it would have received a blemish in short order now that I have it. :gotme

Step 1, email guitar maker to enquire about touch up paint... Pending.

Step 2, see what Amazon can do about this. Oh look, I can chat. :wavey:

Now. Even with the damage I have already become attached to this guitar. It's cool as hell. I don't want to return it. I'm just looking for a "sorry bout that" token.
Me: My guitar was damaged possibly in transport.12:04:32 PM

Amit: Hello, my name is Amit. I will be happy to help you. 12:04:49 PM

Amit: I am so sorry to know that Michael.12:04:58 PM

Amit: Please allow me a quick moment while I pull up the account. 12:05:02 PM

Amit: B.C. Rich WGWH Electric Guitar, White will be it, am I correct?12:06:54 PM

Me: yes12:07:15 PM

Amit: Do you want a free replacement?12:07:49 PM

Me: Actually no. Even with the chips it's really cool and I already have formed an attachment to it. Can you give me a "sorry the post office hires idiots" coupon or something? Lord knows there is a bunch of stuff in my cart I could apply it to. Maybe a book to teach me how to play this thing.12:09:42 PM

Amit: I will issue a promotion of $10.00 for it.12:11:04 PM

Me: That seems fair. Thank you. =)12:11:39 PM

Amit: Sure.12:12:04 PM

Amit: I will do that for you.12:12:12 PM

Amit: I will send an email about it.12:12:28 PM

Amit: Is there anything else I can help you with? 12:12:31 PM

Me: No, I'm happy. Thank you. Have a good one.
That is how to take care of a customer. :dblthumb:

Amazon is all about the buyer but the seller protection is also pretty BA as well. If you're not happy with it, the seller pretty much has no choice but to take care of it or risk getting kicked off Amazon. We sell through Amazon and they take a pretty hefty chunk dollar wise and they're crazy strict about the way you can list things. For instance, pictures cannot have a watermark over the center but you can have it on on a corner. Dumb if you ask me.

I love when my Amazon boxes come. this time it was a water temp sensor mount for my truck, a pair of 5.11 tactical pants (yes, they make them in fat a**) the book for my next class, and Alan Parsons Project CD (unfortunately it turns out to just be a music CD, not PDF files of a large "laser") the DVD Volunteers, and this, the jewel of the box!

Rowen Atkinson is a comedic genius and BBC comedies are the s***. It shall share the DVD shelf with my Fawlty Towers collection and Monty Python when I order that. If I can find a NITB copy of the Young Ones it's game on! :bigthumb:

I find myself looking for s*** that I really don't need to buy, just to get super saver shipping.

Edit: just bought 2 automotive cig lighter to USB adaptors for $4.90 shipped from the USA. None of that 5 week "wait for the boat to leave hong kong" s***.
