I was on the phone with my insurance agent getting a quote, and then answering posts in RWD SR. I'm about to head over to 240 Gen chat. Send the SAR bird if I'm not back in 15 minutes

My friend Phillip's gonna be in town and I'm still waiting on my turbo to get here, so I don't really have anything to do if I wanted to do something to it.

At the rate this turbo is taking to get here, I'll have all the supporting mods done up for it.

I was skimming for retardedly named threads and misplaced threads. What thread did this back and forth take place in?

Thread title was "Speed Limit on Ka24e". The drama began yesterday, and now it's gone to plaid. I hope you don't lock it, Bart -- it's like a cripple fight.

It was fun while it lasted. Honestly, that idiot Young brought a knife to a gunfight.

Ah, hilarity. Thou art too fleeting and too wan -- and Bart is a harsh mistress.

Did you download the Spore creature generator yet and start producing "sporn"? That's an entertaining way to spend 30 minutes...

Or you could play the java version of "FlOw".

Or you could try to solo thumb-wrestle.

Or you could help me figure out what size spacers I need to run on the back of my hatch.

Or you could share any experiences you have with installing automotive carpet, especially how to cut accurately-placed holes for mount points without ripping the carpet to shreds.

Or you could read the ingredients on a Swanson pot pie and make a list of any of them that could fit on one Scrabble tile tray.

The possibilities are endless!

I"m at work, so no downloading creature creators or playing java/flash based games Also, the creature creator just auto exits on load when I launch it on my home comp.

I did try to put carpeting in my vert last year. I bought some carpet from stockinteriors.com with the rubber backing. It was the worst $180 bucks I spent. The carpet wasn't molded correctly, the rear floor pan was way off. The carpet literally was too short by over an inch.

Then the customer servcie guy I talked with said they'd take it back after I showed them pictures of the carpet not fitting properly, and then a week later reversed the decision because they hadn't realized I cut it when I had flat out said "I have cut this carpet" and it was pretty obvious in my pictures. I ended up paying a shop $400 to custom cut a carpet for me and install it.

But my best advice is to remove everything you can from the interior, lay the carpet in place. With a good, sharp pair of scissors, make your cuts based on where everything is located in the car. Make your initial cuts short so you can aviod accidentally cutting places you shouldn't be cutting.

Oh yeah, let me tell you! I would hate to get this thread off topic

Let me search for the thread with my pictures in the vert forum so you can see how bad it was.

bah, I can't find my posts from where I b1tched about the carpet.

First up is the fact that the rear didn't fit the curvature of the floor pan. Obvious by this fold:

Here, I pushed the carpet to the floor board, and see how the top of the seat pan doesn't sit right?

So I measured from the floor pan to the seat pan:

And compared to the carpet measurement

Then I layed the old carpet over the new carpet and there was a huge gap

I didn't get any shots of how the front didn't fit the foot wells very well, but I also hadn't finished trimming either and felt that it wasn't a very good comparison to nitpick about

Also, the trans tunnel was molded wrong. There wasn't enough material, and I had to cut the carpet just to get it to lay down in the floor pans.

I'm websense pwnd at work, Bart, so I can't see images hosted from photobukkit, etc., but it really sounds like they sent you the wrong carpet. I got mine from stock interiors, and the fitment was fine but just...sloppy. The biggest PITA is the thick foam insulation which is evidently made out ofadamantium-reinforced vibranium and damned near impossible to cut through. I'll look at your pics tonight when I get home. Thanks!

I think the problem is that I own a vert. Verts have a different floor pan from coupes and fastbacks, so they probably tried to modify it and failed.

I triple checked to make sure they didn't send me the wrong one, and the p/n that was on my packaging stuff matched a 240 vert in their system.

The funny thing is that when my interior guy was talking to his vendor for a carpet, they kept asking if my car was a 2+2 or a roadster. I was like all 240s are 2+2... I kept wondering if they thought he was asking for a 240z.
