I'd be more worried if she passed me in post count. Isn't going to happen anytime soon, but

$7 for an oil filter? I'd rather continuing to fork out a few extra dollars and get K&N like I've been doing than pay $7 for an OEM filter.

Also, K&Ns have that awesome 1" nut on the end to get a wrench on. And if you've ever changed an SR filter, you'd appreciate that.

I would cry myself to sleep if I didn't have that nut on there. Nissan really dropped the ball when they placed that filter location. And all the relocation kits I see, the install puts the filter so the opening is facing down. Which really baffles me. I would want it pointing up so I didn't make such a mess every time I changed filters.

The kits are professionally made. Greddy and the like. I just see the installers choose really retarded locations. I would personally put it on the frame rail pointing down. Easy to get to, and the oil pooled in the filter won't get over everything.

Here's one I pulled off of FRSports' site

And here's one from a board member:Minus 10 points for using Fram, and I have to remove 3 style points for allowing the hoses to route so visibly.

rofl, you guys like nuts on page 69 . anywho, i read somewhere that if you drill a hole in the bottom of the filter while the oil is draining (this is of course with a relocation kit and the filter bottom side up), that the oil will drain out of the filter making a lot less mess when you take it off. i can't say for sure if it works since i don't have a relocation kit, but it seems to make sense.

I dont think they really care about locations on that stuff as long as it is there, until they get complaints. The older g35s had the dipstick in the most retarded location and now it is right up front where it should be.

The problem is that good filters have a check valve in them that holds oil in the filter for cold starts. When you pull them off, the oil will come back out the way it went in, and you have about a half a filter's worth of oil stuck in there.

for some reason drilling into your oil filter when it is attached to your car seems like a bad idea

bad news guys, i just found out i won't be able to play with you all tomorrow. i got stuck going to boston for a pre-bid meeting, so i'll be on the road for most of the day. the only good thing about the trip is that i'll be meeting up with an old friend of mine for lunch, so that should be cool.
