Xterra would be better in the snow than a awd eclipse.

Ya hear that, I'm trustworthy!

Xterra is a chicks car IMO. I only know one dude who owned one, and he's a super metro kinda guy. Pathfinder is a more worthy car if you afford the gas it eats.

The Xterra is badass. Sure lots of chicks buy them. Lots of chicks buy effing F250s, too. The Xterra was DESIGNED to be an offroad competitor. It was named after a goddammed offroad triathlon. And it's one of the most popular trucks used in places like Moab. It's hard to get MORE manly than the Xterra.

I hate the very idea of AWD. If I wanted understeer with my RWD I'd rub my front tires in Crisco.

Not all AWD under steers, thought a vast majority of them do.it's simply in the power to weight, and which wheels the power is sent to.

(this information below is from a simulator based on actual life but can be thrown out at anytime)When i race a normal near 50/50 under steer is PRONE to occur and try to pull you off the course.

what i find works is a 10/90 (front to back) of actual power.so the front wheels keep grip but not to much.and it's stil almost rwd....

10/90 is how a lot of the best-performing AWD systems act (like ATESSA) much of the time. But as you said, those are pretty much just RWD at that point. Except with extra weight, cost, and complexity. AWD is neat as a technology, but in practice I don't like it. The only traction enhancer you need is better tires. Viper is great proof of that. No TCS, no VDC even ABS was non-standard until a few years ago, and it'll outhandle most other cars in production. Just a really really really well engineered chassis and good rubber to hook it to the floor.

It's not early, it's late. And I didn't get enough sleep yesterday so tech talk is keeping me awake.
