I know this may sound like a dumb question

I will admit that I don't have a 240sx yet. But I plan on hopefully getting one in the next 6 months at the least.

I've decided on between a 91 to 93 240. My question is that I'm pretty partial to automatics (mostly because I have a slight deformity with my right arm that could cause problems shifting, as I don't have 100% useage of it), and when I get the money I'd like to swap a SR20 into it. Now would I be able to swap an SR20 into an automatic 240? Or did they even make that engine in an automatic? If so, will there be any problems?

I will admit that I don't know much about cars (I'm still learning). Only car I knew a tiny bit about was the Eclipse GSX, but have decided to shy away from Mitsubishi (not bashing the cars, but tired of seeing them all over the place now).

Hopefully I won't get flamed. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. If you need further information, I'd be happy to answer

yeah there are sr20 automatics, but you might have trouble finding one since they aren't in huge demand, but i have seen them

call one of the major sr20 providers, talk to them see if they have any in stock, they probably won't but you never know

i have seen them on ebay before and they usually seem to be cheaper than manual sr20's, but as always ordering off ebay can be risky

you're best bet is to call heavythrottle or a similar company and see if you can order one

good luck

I think my friend has an auto sitting in his garage. From what I hear a lot of the sr motors come with automatics so Im sure you wont have a problem with getting one. Oh yeah, welcome to the forum. If your not getting one for at least six months then you have plenty of time to study up on them and do some research.:D

i was under the impression that an sr will match up to a ka transmission, im not positive on this but if thats true just buy an auto 240 and use its transmission if you cant find a auto sr

I'll ask around, but its something to keep in mind.

And it looks like I may be able to get a 240 sooner than I thought if I can land this job I got a call about today. It sucks being unemployed and broke! Not to mention owning a piece of crap 88hp Ford Escort lol
