KGC10 Skyline. Circa 1969-72

At least it looks like it has the "fender eyebrows". Here's another KGC10 in race trim

Close, it's a 1972 Skyline 2000 GT-R (KPGC10)

This car was seen in Cali

Here's a nice slideshow of them... and a brief history if you can read Kanji.http://www.nostalgic.co.jp/carintro/KPGC10.htmlIt just tells you that the C10 debuted in '68 with the 1500 engine and the 1800 for the GT. '70 was the first year for the 2000 emblem as it used the L20 block. The 2000 GT-R was the first to use the S20 in '72. Then it says that a legend was born in '60 and still going strong today.

That opening statement is exactly what is said at the end of the Kanji slideshow I posted the link to above... except it said 1960 in the slideshow. Maybe it meant "the 60's".

The GT-R club left out any and all info about the DR30 Skyline and the beloved FJ20 motor.

Was the DR30 a GT-R badged model or another Skyline model? I believe they just had GT models. GTRclub.org is simply about GT-R badged skylines.

The #6 and the #15 cars are the same model C110 but the #3 car is a different model C110.

this is a reply from my friend, who doesn't want to sign up for Nico and who found this post through Google search. He's in SoCal and actually has an FJ20-powered DR30. The car in the top pic is not a Skyline, but is actually a C33 Laurel with a KGC10 Skyline front and rear end conversion

good lord it is.

the front end gets all the attention to really notice how the fender doesn't really match the door.

Is it just me or does the C110 look pretty similar to a Dodge Challenger?

I think over the years, I've learned to be less interested in the KGC10 and more interested in the C110 and the R31.

Tell your buddy if he spotted that he has a keen eye. I had to go back and look at it to notice that...damn right, that is my C33....wow.

To clear up a few things.

The first GT-R was a PGC10 (4 door), the 1971 was the KPGC10 (2 door)
KAestate wrote:The GT-R club left out any and all info about the DR30 Skyline and the beloved FJ20 motor.
,

The GT-R has only been 5 different models, well, techically 6.

PGC10-4 door sedanKPFC10-2 door coupeKPGC110R32R33R34

Between the KPGC110 and the R32, there were no GT-R models. The closest thing to is was the DR30 RS-X and the R31 GTS-R
KAestate wrote:The #6 and the #15 cars are the same model C110 but the #3 car is a different model C110.
Wrong, the #6 and #15 cars are KPGC10, the #73 is a KPGC110.

And as stated, the #3 car is a C33 Laurel with a (K)PGC10 front end.

For those who are both interested and well-funded.....

It is comparatively easy to get a very nice, restored early Skyline imported to the United States. The lower end (non-GTR) models are fairly inexpensive, maybe $10k for a decent driver and $25k for a concours-perfect L20 car.

The GTR's are preposterously expensive, but they're really VERY close to the lower models except for the vaunted S20, and the only reason you'd want to own an S20 now is for collecting reasons.

Just pick up a nice 2-door hardtop PGC10 and do swap in a 3.1L stroked L28 or an NA RB20/25.

Or a turbo mill if you want a blasphemous abomination....but then you would suck.

I know a guy across town from me who had a 4 door 71 and still has a 71 GTX. Talk about a cool delivery, I was out for a bike ride and was riding down a street and crossing in front of me was a semi with a whole load of cool stuff. Right off the bat, I saw the 1800SSS coupe, and a 710, but I wasn't sure what the 4 door was, and then I saw the GTX... I gave chase and followed the truck down the street. I thought the GTX was a GT-R but I'd never seen a 71 skyline in person, and could only stare in awe. I got to ride in the 4 door, the L20A is an interesting engine, a 6 cyl 2 liter. Its kinda cool, and due to the fact that a L28 wouldn't look any different, that would be a hot conversion. Stick a set of triple Mikuni 44 phhs and oh what a glorious sound it would make. The car its self isn't that fast, but it could be. The 2 door needs some work, its definetly seen some track use and there is some rust here and there. The guy also has the sleeper 260Z, under the hood is a Rebello built 3.1L stroker. The car need as a paintjob like no other. Do I hear quick easy swap?

Will
