What the hell is this? Sometimes i send a messege and my friends wont get it. When this happens half the time I get a messege saying "error code 3". My friends send me messeges but i never get them. They wonder why i'm ignoring them but i'm really not it's just i never get their messege. Also, have the time when I check peoples info (how I kno i'm still connected) it'll say "please wait...". whenever it says this, i know people are sending me messeges that i'm not getting, and they arent getting mine. This is so annoying because it's like i'm getting disconnected, but i still show on peoples buddy list. ahhhhhh help!

uh... format and reinstall. The simplest answer to any problem usually, adaware programs suck, and troubleshooting is generally a waste of time, especially if you dont have to back up more than 700 megabytesfree

but you could try deleting all AIM and AOL fiiles and reinstalling aim

I have and used "ad-aware 6.0". are you saying this caused the problem, or it wont fix the problem?i'm probably going to reinstall xp.. i have so much crap on it anyways

i'll keep you guys posted. i searched google but just came up to forums with people having the same problem and no solution.

it won't fix the problem... What kind of programs do you have installed? Is your HDD completely full? What kind of computer? What Operating system?

crap = bad..

Dont just reinstall, make sure you do a 'clean' reinstall where you repartition your hard drive. If you ever do a lot of downloading free programs and uninstalling, XP will get bogged down with temp files that never get cleaned out and the disks will get fragmented.

thanks this is good to know. I'll tell my stepdad when i have him reinstall everything. i'm not good with computers.

oh yea and alot of the time I also get a "The page cannot be displayed" page but once i hit refresh it loads up.

i originally thought my problem was firewall my stepdad has setup on the network. i'll try what you told me before i go complain about the firewall:)

Well i have a 8200 too....

do some bbacking up and then reinstall only the free programs and other programs that you NEED. Your computer will run so much better

The XP install is SOOOOO easy. Just take your XP disc, put it in the hard drive, reset, then it will load the temporary system off of the CD, ask you if you want to upgrade or do a clean install, press clean install, then it will ask you to partition (i think) Then delete your old partition (the C:/ drive) and create a new one in its place. Then just keep pressing enter until you are done.

well if you want to let your step dad handle it you can, but if you want to try it and get confused or something (before you 'parition') then it is safe to just hit the off button, turn back on and take out the disc before boot

Format and reinstall should not be your first option, look at all aspects, I have had this problem before and its the fault of my cable modem, but sorta the opposite I cannot see what they type. The problem was the modem became stuck and would drop packets coming to me, try resetting it. You could unplug it for about a minute and plug it back in and see how it does.

Trueslide is correct, format and reinstall should not be the first option you take, I dont really know what can be the problem since I never had problem with AIM b4..... wish I can help...

(maybe its just the crappy Dell computer? hehe J/K)

yea i dont like dell but its ok i guess..

right now im on my sisters labtop setup to the same network.. wireless and her computer is getting excellent connection to the network. she has the problem but not as bad as me. everything was reinstalled on her computer so its fresh. I guess its the network. i'm going to take my labtop to my dads and dialup with 56k and see if i still have the problem. Then i'll kno if its the network on my computer but i'm preaty sure its the network.. wat a crappy setup my stepdads got going on hes so paranoid about hackers i bet its the firewall or whatever he has setup thats killing my aim. no joke with all the refreshing i have to do, 56k is quicker
