Just had one of the best races of my life :)

Was coming home from work, driving down Nova rd. (for those of you not from down here it's a very long mostly straight road where all the street racing happens on Sat. nights). I pull onto the road and pass a Ford F-350 that's taking up like 18 lanes, and I notice that about 3 cars back there's 2 bikes. After I get around the truck the 2 guys on the bikes start passing cars, and when they get abeam my door I take off and stay right with them. So the first guy in a green ZX-6R pulls up on my door at about 60, I drop 3rd and hit it. I put a good 100+ft on him by time we got into 5th. Then we back off and his buddy on a very nice lookin ZX636RR with a pipe pulls up on me and we ran again. This guy stuck right on my door, I'd shift and he'd jump up to my front fender, then he would shift and fall right back to my door. About the time I got into 5th I started to pull on him. I had about a half car on him by time we hit 150 and he lifted because he knew he couldn't catch me.

They passed me as we were slowing down and both gave me a thumbs up. Then we pulled over to talk, and as the guy on the RR pulled off he hit a chunk of wood that was in the median and droped his bike. Tore it up pretty good. After we got his bike up and checked out his leg we sat around and bull****ted for about 20 min then I headed off towards my apt.

Now my car sounds funny (cracked my cheapo OBX exhaust manifold with all that WOT running) but I can't ever remember when I was this happy with my car and it's performance, so I guess it's all worth it.

Paul

BTWMe and Jay are gonna try and get video of us racing some bikes this weekend (if I can get my exhaust mani fixed by then) so I'll post them if and when we do it.

That's awesome to hang with something that has the power to weight ratio of a street bike. How many PSI are you running? Do you have any idea what your EGTs were at?

I was at about 1.2bar durring the race, no EGT so I dunno, for what it's worth the manifold wasn't glowing when I pulled over heh.

Anybody have a 1/4 mile time for the 636? I found one that said the 6R will pull a 10.9 at 126 (and that's got like 30 less HP than the 636)

actually the manifold is fine, (I had only hoped that it was the manifold making it sound like a truck with an exhaust leak) after I pulled the valve cover I figured out it's the rocker arms that I'm having problems with.

This is what broke

Try doin that to a Gixxer, buddy!! He'll show you his little LED tail by your first upshift!! j/p, sounds like you did a damn good job of showing up a couple Kawasaki owners.

Beware of the Gixer though...

I smoked a 500cc Kawasaki in my 2.2L Datsun 510. We only went off the line up to the top of third gear though, which didn't take very long given the 6800 max RPM on the motor.

That motor stayed together though... then again, it wasn't under 1.2bar of pressure.

The 636RR makes the same HP and 5 less ft lbs as a GSXR 750. But it's also lighter by a few pounds.

I don't think a 750 would have given me much better of a run, considering how crappy the aero is on all bikes I don't think the extra torque would have made much of a difference.

The 636 is the way to go for middle weight bikes. It is one heck of an accomplishment to take a sport bike, even a 600. I use to love screwing with Civics on my TL-S.

psMr1der, you dont have to do anything to irratate a Harley owner. They bike will irratate the hell out of them all by it's self. Trust me, as a former Harley owner, I can testify to that one.

Very nice Paul. When can I come visit Orlando?

I had that CTS you rode in to 140 racing a Lightning. I won't say how that one turned out.

Very cool. I don't know when, but it'll happen sometime. Maybe when my wife goes to Cancun without me this summer. Hehe.
