What's up everyone. :wavey: I just became a 2012 M37x owner, and am a soon to be former owner of an 09 G37S 6MT. Loved the car. Just absolutely love it still. Fun as all hell. But it's time for some luxury. I started a job in sales where I'm all over the place so I've been beating my poor G for the last year and a half. Got rear ended, still drivable but the qtr panelem shifted so there's definitely a frame issue. Had a friend who does auto body look at it and confirm it. So it's time to move on. I have an 03 Honda CRV to haul my samples and myself for work, but before I bought the CRV, the G has racked up 172K miles (fun miles) and still running just aweosme. Took the rims and stillen exhaust off and the k and n intake will hopefully fit the M which I just won a bid on an insurance auction through the aforementioned friend. Frame and the radiator support look to be good, from the pictures anyway. I'll be checking it out soon when it's towed down here. Needs fenders headlights bumper grilles etc. 2012, non sport black/black with 84K. Got it yesterday for 3600$, auction fees included. Looking currently for all the front end parts. That good friends of mine will be doing the work so that will keep the cost manageable. I've always wanted the M but the G was more in my budget and the 6MT was so much fun. I plan on slowly moddling the M. I changed my own clutch on the G and I customized my own headlights among other things so I can do a bit of work with the car myself. I really enjoy it, even if it sometimes makes more sense to give it to someone to do it. I love the satisfaction of having done it yourself.
I thought I'd say Hi and I'm super happy there's a forum dedicated to this truly gorgeous car. Any advice, tips, ideas are very welcome. :dblthumb:

Oh and yes, I am looking for the Sport bumper and yes I have thought about the Q70 front end conversion (did the 10+ conversion on the G) but the Q70 parts are hard to find for a decently prices, but still considering it, depending on part availability

Definitely do the Q70 conversion! I'm thinking of doing that down the line also.

Take off all your g37 sports brake parts, including the dust shields, and transfer them to the M. everything except the rear rotors and rear hose can be transferred over and will fit. The only thing you need to buy is rear rotors since the parking brake hub is a different diameter.

I did the sports brake conversion on my M.

Do you have pictures of the back of the car? Does the car run? Sometimes infiniti parts can run high, even on eBay. Hopefully you can source something relatively cheap and your friend installs them for next to nothing.

The calipers and rotors are the same on all the G series cars.

At least I never saw one with the current sport brakes on the sport model.

I never saw that on the sedan maybe the two door coupes

I think that was the thing

Sedans sports model have the same akebonos. The rear rotor is a different size for the parking brake so you'll need to get the set with the slightly larger inner diameter. The ones from the q50/60 sports should work.

I had a2010 G37xS with the same brakes add the standard model.
I think only the coupe had the nice brakes.

I only know what I had. I was even pricing the upgrade to the akibono system.

AWD is all base model brakes. The M AWD should be the same base model brakes. He said his was 2wd Sports so that has the bigger brakes

haha yup we both were. either way, op should definitely do the brake upgrade before trashing the g37. Too bad the G isn't automatic, if it was then he could also try doing the rear diff swap.

Thanks for all the info. :dblthumb: I was actually just researching the Sport brake swap. Perfect timing. I just need to find a used set of the base brakes to swap. I appreciate the details. Hearing it from someone who did it is perfect! Oh and what about the rims? Will the stock 18's clear the bigger brakes? I know in the G the non sport stock rims don't fit the bigger brakes. I'm going to want to upgrade the rims anyway. I'd love to snatch up the stock 20's and complete the Sport appearance but they're pricey, either way, I'll have the brakes ready to go if they don't fit the stock rims.
I think I'll pass on the Q70 swap. I know if I don't do it now I probably never will but I really like the M37S bumper and I'd probably be $2K deeper into the project if not more.
The car runs, drives, and the rear end doesn't have any damage, from the pictures anyway. Hopefully the rest of the body will be in good shape, if not, my friend will hopefully help me out for top shelf liquor and the cost of materials :)
I'm so excited to get this going I just ordered one headlight, a broken tab and a crack in the housing but a perfect lense. 150$ with an extra ballast from the other busted headlight. My friend is in a middle of a move so it'll be a little while before he can get started on it so I have time to find parts. I definitely want to stay with oem parts and not aftermarket crap. I'm waiting on a return call from a junk yard in texas, they ship bumpers. They have a Sport bumper for 275$. If they have other parts, it may be worth paying the inevitably large shipping fee. It was towed in today. I hope I'll get a chance to see it tomorrow. I'm lucky to be extra busy at work during these times.
Cant wait to get behind that wheel!

The stock 18" will fit the rear, but needs a spacer to fit the front. The front just barely scrapes the sports caliper. The 17" base spare will not fit.
You don't have your g37 anymore?

If it's going to the junkyard, then you should pull the parts while you can.
Definitely keep you sports spare.

Keeping the sport spare didn't even cross my mind.
Thanks!
Already found the non sport set. Hopefully they're still available. 175$ so definitely worth it.

Question, why are you looking for a non-sports set?

I made this for my 2012 base to sports brake swap. You'll need to account for extra upgraded front axle nuts and washers if you use it.

Comparison between the M sports and non-sports. Everything on the list except for the rear rubber brake hose and rotor are the same as the g37's so use it as a check list to upgrade.

Make sure you grab your dust shields since you'll need it for the sports rotors

My G came with the akebonos, I'm still driving the car. The insurance company gave me money for just the body work. They did not check for frame damage. Had my buddy look at it and it'll need a supplemental appraisal which will put it over the total loss value. Before that happens, I'll be keeping the akebonos but I need the car to be functional.

You're also going to need the non-sport lines and brackets, just swap the parts to/from the m37
