ok about 3 days ago i found out that the turbo inlet gasket was craked and chiped off and i replaced it and went for a test drove and everything seemed fine and there was no loud exhaust leak, i came back and then left one more time and then all of a sudden i heard a ,etal piece fly just like last time and its making a new lawn mower noise, i think its a new gasket leak problem but i dont know, would replacing the inlet turbo gasket cause the outlet turbo gasket to break i dont know why.

sonds like your not tightening something right or over tightening. I dunno. Gaskets dont usually just break into pieces.

are you talking about the exhaust manifold to turbo gasket? If so, that thing is a royal pain. Good news is that brand new gaskets are less likely to blow out if one of your nuts comes loose at that connection. I recommend calling up nissan and getting brand new locktabs and when you tighten those nuts down, put some hutzpah into it.

or get some real lock nuts from stage8 instead of that lock tab that drives me bonkers.

holy crap 6 of em? did you shorten your downpipe or something to get that to fit without causing some weird not-bolting up kinda deal in the piping...or do you have a flex pipe...

Oh ok. I was about to say...6 gaskets is a bit awkward and a pita getting all 6 to stay in place while you're trying to bolt up the turbo. Ha ha ha.

is there a certain type of bolt that i should use, cause i use stainless steel and i just dont get how one of the bolts actually came off (like it unscrewed it self and that is what happened last time) and one of the other bolts gets unscrewed but not all the way. also what size bolts i would need for the lock nuts and what brand, and is there a easier way to get the bolts on and off rather than squeezing your hand in there and without having to take the head off, cause that was a pain. also are your guys nuts and bolts going up or down toward the ground????

which kind did you ask for cause i asked them and they dont even know what im talking about. it sucks cause you go and ask a dealership for prices on stuff and they dont know what it is, but yet they charge you a butt load of money for labor, any ways just venting, so i bought some "blue" thredlock and what kind of bolts are those that you got from nissan are they oem???

Get some red loctite and put some *** into tightening those things. No serious wrench on them hardcore... I had this problem on the dp of my old car. PITA but I fixed it with the method above..

oh boy im so excited i finally know what to ask for, now for another question, if i have everything connected and i need to take the studs out to replace them can i do that without taking **** apart, or do i come from underneath, or do i just take the headers off again (which was a pain putting back on) but i also have a shop that says they can weld the turbo to the manifold for 350 dollars, is that worth it????

Oh HELL no. I forget the size of the threads but go to http://www.stage8.com and get those studs/nuts/locking plates from them. It's none of that $55 a set nonsense that'll eventually creep loose on you. I think I paid 20 or something and it's all stainless. Only thing though, you'll need to know the stud size. IIRC they're M8x1.25. Loctite will burn off at the turbo and do nothing.

which is why i don't put anything on the studs. i don't even put anti seize on. I just let them seize up. I figure a bit more hard wrenching beats having a nut back off.

I just replaced that gasket what a pain, took 2 weeks to get that gasket too. I had one of the studs get pinched in between the manifold and coolant line and wore a small hole in it. I just used regular metric stainless steel bolts with lock washers, I'm hopping they won't come loose. I also threw on a S15 exhaust manifold gasket while I was at it. If they coem loose again, I'm going with a new turbo and top mount this time.

i bought this car from someone so i dont really know how old the turbo and mani actually are, so i think ive decided on getting a new turbo and new mani now which ones do you guys recomend cause ive heard of the turbo called the "disco patato" and i would like to get it but i see it an ebay for like 400 bucks.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

also the disco potato is a gt28rs right??? and as for a manifold i dont know what to get, but all i know is that the turbo is an upgrade and then a having a new mani and gasketts and studs, bolts, etc. is alot better than not knowing how old this stuff is. and i also found this on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

is it any good???

also one of my questions is that any turbo parts has to come from one of these makers, garrett, mitsubishi, and greddy right??? so if a company on ebay had made a turbo they have to get these parts from one of those companys, and they wouldn'y just fabricate a whole **** load one by one right???
