I just bought a Q45 and it seems that the car is shutting itself down when i try to start it. I put a new battery in the car because when i bought it the old one was dead. Drove home and tried to start it and it seems the car is in a security mode or something the relay for the security is missing. There is no power to the car itself but a clicking noise coming from somewhere on the passenger side of the motor. Im not sure what else i can say so any help would be great. Thank you.

Replace the relay then see what happens, But basically its the starter trying to engage but the anti-theft computer isn't allowing it.

Almost like your car say replace my chain guides LOL. Read this: zerothread?id=25201

Replace the chain guides, then start the car if you know that they haven't been replaced through the receipts that you have or the Infiniti Service history, Which can be obtained at any dealer the car was at.

I'm confused as to whether you've started and driven your Q or if you had it towed home when you bought it.

There's a blue starter relay tucked away in the passenger side corner next to the firewall (below the wiper motor?). If it's making the noise temorarily swap it with the blue AC relay in the engine compartment fuse box for now.

I'm not sure what to tell you about the missing security relay or what affect it could have on starting. Here's a link to to a 94 FSM. For what you're checking it will be the same as the 91. Location of electrical units starts on page EL239

Are you getting interior lights and music or no power at all? If you have interior lights could the clicking noise be coming from the starter (solenoid) below the engine where the engine meets the transmission? If you are getting only clicks when you turn the ignition but have interior power check the battery clamps and connection. They corrode, wear out and sometimes fail to provide a solid connection. Let us know.

By the way welcome to NICO.

It's a shame to see no one vetting their purchases.

When i bought this car i drove it home started a few times no problem... Then just went dead. The interior lights work one second then when i start to crank the car they go out seems like when i disconnect the battery it resets for a min then dead again. Im gonna take the battery and exchange it today seems like its not holding enuff charge to crank the car even after putting a trickle charger on it over night to see if it was maybe a low battery caused by a alt problem or something but didnt change the outcome. Still wont run.
