I traded my red 87 Mazda Rx-7 Turbo II with 151k running swell with HKS BOV, HKS Intake, for a 91 Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo + $880 Cash. It sounds better than it is. The car has a few problems andis massively ghetto rigged and riced out. It has a huge wing on it that is screwed and double sided taped which i will be removing. Driverside sideskirt is crushed in. Dents and dings here and there. Front aftermarket bumper is falling off and will be removed. The rear bumper has some addons. Driverside headlight doesnt work. Shifter pops up and down. Brakes dont work. I was told it overeheats due to bad head gasket. The best thing is probably the interior which isnt that bad and is black leather interior. The exterior is Yellow. The part above the tail lights is cracked where it says nissan and twin turbo. I want a stock body and plan to do intake, exhaust, boost controler, bov, radiator, e-fan, fuel injectors, fuel pump, apexi safc, tuning. I pretty much want to do max safe boost on stock turbos and leave it at that. How much hp is achievable with these mods?

Here is what I probably think I need 1st and feel free to add to my list-Factory Turbo Front Bumper-Factory driverside sideskirt-Part above the tail lights(whatever u call it)-Radiator-E-Fan- Engine (if it is not just the head gasket, i was planning on getting a low mileage jdm)-Paint- Performance Mods

My original plan is to fix this baby up and sell it to fund for my modfications on my fc rx-7 turbo and pay off bills. But I want to have fun with this car, before I sell it and get the knowledge of working on this car so when i finish school and get ase certified, I can have experience working on different cars. If I like the 300zx after its all fixed and running good, I most likely would sell it, but would consider buying one again, when the time & money is right and when i can find a black one for a good price. Also, do u think this is a good car to fix, or should i just part it out. im not too aware of the prices for 300zx parts but from what i know its pretty expensive. I want to make at least double of what i will put into it. Excluding all the mods, how much will it cost for the rest? Take in mind I will be doing the work myself. I have worked on Rx-7s for 4 years now and have gained a lot of knowledge on Rotaries and have been doing swaps, troubleshooting, and labor for all my rx-7s. but 300zx is new to me, and looking at the engine bay, I dont see y people complain about not enough room in rx-7s.

congrats and welcome to the world of pistons, the good news is you won't have to work on it as often once you get it piced back together at least, early TT's go anywhere from 5-10K depending on condition and milage, 400whp is the max for stock turbo's and not easy to get there, the basic set up is intake, catback exhaust rechipped ECU and boost jets to get the boost up to the 14 psi range, this should put you north of 300whp and is a popular place to be, beyond that you're looking at larger injectors and a fuel managment or remapped ECU to handle it along with a good boost controller to take it up to 20 psi at which point you've maxed the I/C's and turbo's

and the stock set up has recirculating BOV's and the stock fuel pump is quite capable of getting you to 400 whp

Well, thanks for the welcoming all though I have owned piston sportcars, but just never a turbo piston. So intake, catback exhaust, 14psi should get me to 300+whp? That sounds great. And I won't need any fuel mods except a chipped ecu, unless I go further right? If so, that sounds good. I wouldnt mind goin for 400whp if i wasnt plannig to sell it though. But this will be good experience before I get the Z that I will keep.

Thanks. I'm pretty happy myself even though there is a lot of work. I never thought I'd be driving a Z one day. I always liked these cars. I like this car more than the supra which it highly resembles in look and power. Its sad I will be selling this one once its ready to be sold, so I can fund for my 91 rx-7 turbo project and pay off my debt and bills. But I already know I will like this car and will buy one again after the debt is paid off, but it will be a matter of finding it and what I want is a black z. But this first z will be good experience til then.
