the plugs you buy should always be the right gap for the vehicle you're putting them into. It was ok to regap copper plugs but it's not ok to gap any of the newer plugs.

Every time I have purchased NGK plugs I have checked the gap and they are dead on. I have put them on my old Integra, my old 240, my old 4Runner, and my I30 and they have been gapped perfectly each time.

You could check the gap prior to installing, but im damn sure it will be dead on.

there are two problems with that tothemax.1) if you check the gap there is a chance that you will scrape the coating on the electrodes and your plugs will not work anything like they are supposed to

2) if someone has dropped them... then the electrodes will be touching. I'm not saying to not even look at them. You should always inspect parts before installing. But just double check them against each other. If something happened to cause the gap to be off it'll be off enough to spot with the naked eye and not a gap gauge.

Back in the "old" days when they shipped spark plugsthe just pushed them in a little box with no packing.

Now the new plugs have a little cardboard spriral tube thatcovers the plug electrode. Chances now are slim that yourgap has changed since the factory made the plug unless youare buying an item somebody returned.
