I just got my Rogue, it's an SL AWD, the dealer offers undercoating, paint protection, and cloth protection for $225 + tax each, which one(or more) of them would you guys recommend me get? Thanks in advance.

BTW new to the forum, this is my first post

When I bought my car, I took the undercoating and the interior cloth protection (I later make install a clear bra on the hood).

But at that time I did not know that by washing your car regularly, you don't really need an undercoating protection, and that you can buy for way cheaper about the same product to protect your interior and it is easy to do.

Knowing that at that time, I may not have taken them, but it really depends how much time you spend with your car:If you are a DYI guy, you don't need them, you can do better yourself. If you are less handy and/or see your car more as a vehicle which provides a nice mean of transportation from A to B, then it is an easy way to not be bothered with that.

If you are the latter of the two and you can afford it, you got your answer.

So, no real answer for that, to each is own, depending of your situation.

Anti-rust and undercoating.

The problem with paint protection is if you need to do body work, you will see the difference because the paint won't be the same.

A similar question was just asked awhile back. Read more here: underbody-rust-coat-t421486.html

Finally decided to join this thing. Just bought my second Nissan two days ago for my wife. New 2016 Rogue SV AWD. I currently have a 2014 Altima.

My wife and I live in the Midwest and they use the worst stuff on our roads here. Since the Rogue will be out primary snow car, I'm strongly considering undercoating and rust protection.

I declined the $1795 dealer option for it. I actually called up the place they use and they'll do undercoat and rust protection for $300. That same warranty too. My appointment to do it is tomorrow.

Question. Should I go through with it? Will it make a difference?

no. this has been discussed here before. its a total sham.
they can only coat the non-moving, non hot area's. and thats an aluminum body thats already rust resistant.

question: when was the last time you owned a car and had to sell it, due to rust issues?

Out where I live, my Altima started showing rust less than two years in with frequent washing. Hence why I'm actually considering the option.

My last car was a Honda CR-V and I rolled it into the dealership with parts falling off due to bad rusting.

Like ImStricken said cars are using aluminum body’s. If they don't use aluminum, they are using Galvanized steel to prevent rust.

If you do put an undercoating on it should be done within the first year, really as soon as you get the car. This is because if you do it a few years down the line if has the beginning stages of rust and you cover it will a rubberized coating or whatever it will continue to rust underneath and you won't know until a part falls off.

If you do have someone do it I would try and find a specialist shop that primarily does undercoating. I don't think any normal shop or dealer would do a very good job, they would probably give it to the 18 year to do.

Another option is you can buy some Fluid Film and do it yourself. This would need to be reapplied every year I would suspect, but it's better than nothing.

If you do it or not get some Fluid Film and spray both sides the F'ing carrier bearing for the passenger side cv axle because that will get rusted and not come out!
