I agree. Especially with an N/A, I am not trying to make my N/A faster, It does have a nice exhaust, except for headers. Once I get the major problems squared away that's the next investment. I know they are a pain in the a**, but i just feel like if your gonna do a cat-back, you should free up the rest. I could be wrong, but are exhausts one of those things where it is only as good as the weakest link? I mean if you have upgraded headers, going into stock pipe, wouldn't it be pretty much pointless? Sure the beginning may flow better, until you reach the stock pipe and cat and it cant flow any better then when you had stock headers right? But the main reason I put like exhaust work is that wonderful z32 growl. I looove the sound these cars make, besides the lifter tick that as loud as rod knock lol. Really, for a DD, even a bone stock N/A is plenty of fun for me. If anything I would just put some nice rubber on it, springs, or coil overs depending on what you have to spend, and just get your kicks cruising back roads, rather than a straight line. Those of you who have been reading my posts, I'm sorry I ramble a lot, I am trying to cut down on it lol. Just out of curiosity, for you N/A drivers, what mod if any gave the most noticable power increase? I am thinking about just trying to lighten stuff up and free up the power it has, I already put some pretty light rims on, now I am thinking about 1 piece drive shaft, hopefully in the future a light flywheel, but not now since the car barely wants to idle as is, and when its due for a timing belt would a lightened pully set make a noticable difference? Like i said, I am not really too concerned with HP, more concerned with getting what ever HP it has down to the ground efficiently. wow, still rambling, sorry, thread jacked you a bit.
I can say with almost 100% certainty that the mod that will give you the most or rather free up the most "fun factor" would be a lightweight flywheel, this will make your engine more rev happy but at the cost of drive-ability. The lighter the flywheel the more rev happy the engine becomes but the harder it is to take off smooth from a stop, do a drag start, and engine break (this becomes basically non existent).
