Hey guys, I am joining the nissan market and was wondering a couple things.

I have a fully built ca18, but it needs an alternator, starter, flywheel/clutch setup and exhaust mani head flange. Does anyone know where I can get these items? Perhaps maybe what parts from an sr or ka will fit it?

Thanks

MOST OF THESE PARTS ARE THE SAME PARTS AS THE CA18DE ENGINE. THIS ENGINE CAME IN 1988-1990 NISSAN PULSAR. I AM NOT SURE ABOUT THE STARTER SINCE THE PULSAR IS A FWD CAR AND THE 240 IS A RWD.

THE CLUTCH IS THE SAME AS THE 1991 NISSAN STANZA, BUT SOME PEOPLE ON THIS FORUM SAID THAT YOU CAN USE THE SR20DET FLYWHEEL AND CLUTCH AND IT WILL WORK. I NEVER TRIED THAT.

THE CA18DET AND THE CA18DE HAS ALMOST EVERY PART THE SAME EXCEPT FOR THE PISTONS.

GOOD LUCK

Hmmm so the sr20 clutch may fit? Awesome, As for the starter, ill I have to order taht puppy from Japan...? That would suck. As of now I will be using teh KA gearbox with a CA bellhousing., SO hopefully if I use a SR20 clutch kit I will be able to get a SR20 starter. My name is AL btw, thanks for answering my question...

Well I bought it from a friend, he brought silvia over from Japan and it was built over there. He sold the motor to me to move on to other projects. And since my mr2 is almost done I needed a new project car. ANd yes its a HKS manifold and yes it has both a t4 and hks wastegate on it. If I can get a spare head flange for it, I will sell it soon. If not I will have to keep it for awhile till I find a head flange. Make me an offer.

I plan on it, my goal is to have the most powerful CA in the states. I have the most powerful 3sgte powered mr2 in the states as of now. So hopefully i can apply it to the ca18 too :) Just got to get the common parts first... Nomoremr2 I have been reconsidering your offer, how about 375+shipping for manifold without the wastegate. Thanks AL

I'm thinkin I might get rid of mine as well and go for a smaller turbo, if anybody else wants one W/ all the parts you need to make it work in a LHD car AND a 3in downpipe let me know.

why do you need to sell the engine if all you are doing is going to a smaller turbo?

Paul, What size turbo is that? It looks like the exhaust housing is .82 A/R correct? For those of you not familiar with the CA, too big of a turbo and nothing to help spool it up means "Disappointment". I used a T3/T04b on my girlfriend's stock CA and was able to put down 312.5hp at 6200rpm on 18psi of boost (No tuning). I have a T3/T04E 60-1 stage 3 for my own CA and have had good results with it while highway racing, but never took it to the dyno. This turbo used to come into boost at about 4200rpm (with a stock manifold and T3 flange) and didn't feel like much until 15psi. So don't be buying no T78's to be driving around the streets with or you will be sorry!

the thing spools fine, it was a .81 in the pic, now it's a .70 divided.

I never really wanted to build a drag car, but that's kinda what happened, so I'm trying to get somthing that will make boost about 1000rpm's sooner so I can have fun on a road course again. Not to mention I just need the money, so I'll sell whatever I can to get it. Besides it's a lot more money to get a nice full T4 than a T3/T4 that will flow almost as much.

another point, my motor even with that big turbo on it will come up on boost by around 4200-4500rpm (depending on gear) and makes 20psi by around 5200. When your shifting at 9,000 that leaves a lot of powerband to have fun with.
