hi, I just bought a 94 Q for $1400, its dark green and has 155000 miles on it. Its in pretty great shape, I have all the service records for it too. The engine and interior are perfect!Only downside is that it spent all its life outside. The clear is peeling in a few spots and it has some hail damage to it. I am also in need of a drivers side fender and corner light. If anyone would like to sell one, I have a post up in the classified section.

And BTW, this is a great forum, lots for information here.

Welcocme to our club.

First time I have heard of Infiniti paint peeling, but lots of TX summer and dust can do anything.

Wes has some clear coat peeling from a previous owners slowness in removing some bird droppings. Once the clear coat is gone the paint is rather vulnerable.

I had to do some serious restoration of the finish on the Silver Q when I bought it. The clear was severely pitted with water spots and scratches. I would be glad to help guide you the process I used to restore mine...

however, it is all meaningless if you have actually lost the clear. If the clear coat is flaking like it has on Wes' Q then detailing and waxing will do nothing to help. I'm afraid a repaint is the only way to fix it.

Factory original paint was amazing... and, unfortunately, REALLY expensive to duplicate. We recently had a couple of members who have done some paint. They may be able to give you a good idea of what is going to be required to bring the finish back to original.

You guys may call it imperfections, i call it "battle scars" and "marks of character"... With that said, im going to get it fixed in the spring..

They had also repainted that area once, so said my body shop.

I have used this to stop the damage..

You need to clean up the area of peeling, I use a power buffer and cutting creme, be very careful not to cut through the existing paint, without clear coat it is very soft! You can buy a can of clear coat, again I go to a paint store and have it made up and put in a can, pressurized, but I think you can buy it at Autozone. Make sure you use a cleaner before you spray. Spray the area affected with the clear coat, allow it to dry for a day or 2 and buff it up. Looks better than you would think, not great, but ok, and will stop the clear coat from continuing to lift..

You have to make sure you have the edges of the clear solid.. peeled back to where it is solid to the paint..

Paint or clear coat? My clear has been peeling since I've started driving so dag on fast every day!

I'm sorry, but I've seen so much clear coat peeling off these Q's that I will jump out on a limb and say it's common at this point for older Q's. Granted the paint in steller, but something makes the clear peel right off at a certain point. And I take care of The Big Sexy!

That is some serious acne!

Clear coat has held on every Q I've seen live.

Don't spend much time in West TX or Lubbock, though.

Do you know of any junkyards in of around austin that has Q45's.There is only one Q in the area and its a 90 or 91.

And yes its the clear thats peeling, not the paint itself.

Pretty rare. Only have bought some J30 Calipers locally, but he did say he sees one come through occasionally.
