Another A/C fell victim to a deer just a few hours ago. I was going up hill on a dark windy road when I was in a head on collision with a buck, big antlers and all. The airbag deployed and I have minor airbag burn on my arm, other than that I'm fine. I am sooo glad I wore my seat belt, or it would've ended very badly.

Surprisingly my car was intact and drivable, with a large dent in the hood where his antlers collided and the bumper also has a dent. Hopefully all I need is a new fascia and hood.

I was in shock(first accident) and got out the car and forgot to put it in park but it only rolled back a few feet before I stopped it. About 6 different cars stopped to help and different times. The funny part was that one 'redneck' stopped to ask if I was going to keep the deer.(wtf?)

So, I'm just glad I'm okay and it wasn't worse. Now I can say from experience, it pays to WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT!

/end sob story

Wait. lol Are you calling me a newb? Because I was wearing my seatbelt and it saved me a lot of grief.

Yeah, when he asked me if I wanted to keep it I was like 'what? uhh no you can... take it?'

Hey man I hit one a few weeks back doing about 65mph, I never even got to hit the brakes it happened so fast!! The antlers on this buck I think dented my fender my hood headlights and radiator all were smashed!! After the collision I had a squealing belt and my car got hot from all the coolant leakage !! I hit the deer so hard it broke all four of its legs an it flew in the air over my car ten feet at least in the air!! An also a true WV redneck took the deer I hit !! I just ordered a radiator an just got headlights !!! Next is a Hood !! On the way trying to get the car home a tractor trailer drove by an broke the wire that I had the hood tied with an it flew back an busted my windshield out!! I just bought the car 2wks before!! I got the car Hot but I think it's ok ! Darn deer

Um, you live in PA, the dude that asked if you were keeping the deer is legit. My grandfather did it all the time, why waste the good meat? I could go for some nice backstrap right now. Heck all ya gotta do is let the game commission know.

ANyway where'd ya smack the sum a *****, I swear I see 3 a day travelling back and forth from work between the airport and Aliquippa exit on 60, glad you're ok.

lol I totally expected it, but it was just kind of funny to me given the situation and the look on the guys face when he asked me. A little fun fact, on the way home on the same road I saw another dead deer. Then next thing I know...

Anyway, I was in the Wexford/Cranberry area, I just got off 19 and was on Warrendale-Bayne Road. I now wish we had even more hunters around here.

As for the damage, I might have pics up later. The hood is smashed, and the grill is broken, the headlights, fenders and the rest of the car don't even have a scratch. The hood should be easy to come by due to the fact that it is the same on the sedan, and maybe I'll go for the Stillen front fascia.

vape-one I guess a midst our disdain for deer, we can both say they're some of the most dangerous animals to any driver.

I feel your pain, I hit one on Thursday. Glad you are ok! If i would have been a split second later on my way to work, I would have been in your exact situation.

I drive 100 km (60 miles) to work every night. Close calls with deer are commonplace. Every one scares the hell out of me. I know several coworkers who have had their cars written off and some have been injured. Glad you're okay... the car can be fixed!

Just a random thing I thought I'd throw out there......You should brake only until your about to hit the animal and then let off the brake just before you hit it. I was told this will help prevent the animal from actually coming threw your windshield, and help it roll over the top of your car. I went to school with a guy that actually died due to a big deer coming threw his window.... scary

Scary indeed. I heard a weird story about a lady hitting a deer and breaking her neck because the deer went threw the window and it kept bucking and kicking her in the neck.

I think that is what I did, although I can't be certain. I think the reason there was minimal damage was due to the fact that the deer took the brunt of the blow to its antlers and then its body which resulted in the crinkled hood and broken grill.

Anyways, thanks for you guys' support. Be safe.
