i havent got any power in first gear

i just bought my 1990 240sx today and ive been driving it all day and i have noticed i havent got any power in first gear....but soon as i hit second it has tons of power....why is this.????????

Gearing. The car kind of has a granny gear. Also, in the tunes, they have different maps for different gears (IDK about the KAE exactly, it may only have an overdrive map). Plus, you will hit a different level of load, there is nothing that can be done about this, and it will put you in a more advanced timing section of the timing map. Try a tiny turbo if it bothers you.
