I have the opportunity to get a DC Sports header for a good price...

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

So I want your opinions on whether I should get this header or not...A co-worker of my boyfriend (at Nissan) has a spare DC Sports header ( I think it may be a S14 one, not sure though) that he never put on. He only wants $200 for it (vs. like $290-350 online). I haven't been able to find a 91-94 OBX header on Ebay for what seems to be a month now so I'm getting anxious. My question is this: is the DC sports going to last with that ceramic finish? We get snow/salt etc here in DE and I've read stories about Honda DC sports headers in temperate climates rusting worse than the OEM manifold! Is this true? If thats the case then I'll pass and hold out for an OBX header when they become available.

p.s .Besides Ebay does anyone know where I can get a OBX header?p.p.s Would a S14 OBX header work on an S13 or not?

Not sure about wether the S14 fits an S13, I don't think it does. What about getting a Hotshot, or are you not wanting one of those for some reason. Ceramic coatings are pretty good. My Hotshot has ceramic coating and it hasn't rusted yet. (had it for going on 5 years now) But seeing as how I am in Cali our weather is no where near as bad as DE. If you are holding out for a full stainless then I would do that. Stainless is so much more pimp than ceramic coated.

I'm holding out for the OBX one because a.) its cheaper b.) its stainless. I'm not so much interested in stainless because its shiny but because I don't want it falling a part after one winter here. There isn't anything that the ceramic header could be coated with to prevent that I assume?

You could get it powder coated. They magnatize the part +/- and then the actual coating gets treated with the opposite charge and when they spray it on it sticks like a mofo since it is an ionically treated bond. For a header the price for powder coating wouldn't be worth the price of holding out for stainless though.

yes the s14 piece and s13 piece is interchangable...ive tried this already. dc ceramic coats for heat resistence like jet coating or exaust wrapping. it is still stainless underneath i think. to my knowledge dc makes very well mannifolds and actually engineers all there pieces inhouse instead of copying others thats why the more expensive price. for $200 i would jump on it.

Oh, I checked, not the same guy I thought it was. So it is definitely a S13 DC sports header. I actually know the guy (kinda) as he's a delivery driver to my favorite restaurant (japanese take-out ) and the S13 he has actually used to be my friend's. Har har.

Stainless underneath? Somehow I doubt that... from the reviews I've read from some Honda owners, there was one guy in Colorado that said his lasted a year till it started to take on a rust-coat that was 'worse than the stock manifold' supposedly.

Eh. I'll pass. At least OBX is a company I've heard of. And knows how to spell warranty.

Well this is the KA forum, not the KA-T forum

I guess I'm just gonna hold out for now. I have other stuff to contend with on the car anyway.
