I'm asking this for my buddy, I'm a 240sx guy. My buddy has a '90 300zx n/a. He bought a vg30dett motorset and the wireharness is all f*** up. He tried to get a replacement and the guy told he to go f** him self. The n/a motor he has in it right now just took a big s*** on with this weekend. We are going to try to swap the motors in the next couple weeks. Does any one know if we can use the wireharness that is in the car now or do we have to switch them out also? Will the intake mainifold swap from the n/a to the tt motor? One of his is cracked. How long do you think the swap will take, and is there anything that I need to know before I jump head into this to get his car running again? Any help that you guys can give me will be great. Thanks,

Josh

Ok here goes.....

-Wiring harness from the NA is lacking some TT components, general rule of thumb on a Z32 is "if the motor comes out, replace the harness" and I can testify to that being true. Keep in mind his stock NA one is 15 years old and won't work but has seen better days, the one with the JDM motor has taken a beating and being exposed to everything isn't worth having. Contact Coz at http://www.conceptzperformance.com as he has some of the now discontinued engine harnesses, tell him Jerry Taylor sent you, he'll hook you up. Also make sure that you have a twin turbo ECU.

-By intake manifold do you mean the plenum up on top of the motor that the TB's are hooked to? If so I'm pretty sure the TT and NA ones are different. I could be wrong though so don't quote me.

-Swap will take awhile, its kind of a pain. Be ready for an adventure.

Feel free to reply or to e-mail me with any further questions that you may have.

EDIT : SORRY THIS IS NSRZ32...MY GIRLFRIEND WAS SIGNED IN ON THE COMPUTER AND I DIDN'T REALIZE IT. I WILL REPLY AS WELL SO YOU HAVE MY CONTACT INFO IF YOU NEED IT.

I have some quick ?'s. Is there anything that I am going to need for the car to do this swap? It is a 5 speed now and he got a 5 speed trans with the tt motor. I know for my 240 when I put rb20 in it I went from auto to a 5 spd and I had to get a new driveshaft. Does any one know of a step by step write up on this swap or is it something that I am going to have to figure out? When I put the new wireharness in will I have to splice anything? Will the dash still work, and can the sensors from the n/a be put on the tt? The tt motor is said to be a j-spec. Not sure how to tell if any one know please tell me. Besides plugs, belts and fluids, what should I tell my buddy to buy for this motor? I was thinking new clutch. Do all 300zx have an lsd rear end? Cause I told him he'll want to get one if he doesn't have one know. I know there is more but can't think of it right now. Thanks for any help that I can get.

Check out the Technical section on twinturbo.net as they have a full write up on there as to doing the NA -> TT swap. Lots of information to be found on there through search.

Good Luck and keep us posted. From what I here the N/A to TT swap is not a easy swap but will be well worth the hard work.Post up some pics as you go too.

My buddy is not going to do the swap now. He is selling the tt motor he has. He is also selling his greddy fmic that he got for it. He is then going to sell his car as is and find a new car. He is not sure what he wants.

Bummer.

He should keep the upgrade parts and sell the N/a in favor for a TT, then just add the parts.

BTW: 350z's are nice N/A cars.
