Take the old wheels in a trash bags and set them aside before you do your runs.

IMO, nothing is cooler than a G50 in 15s showing its rear end to newer German luxury sedans with big wheels.

It would be fun to have a sleeper G50.. SC, headers, and have it be beat to crap with the piepans on there

I have NEVER heard of powdercoating "weakening" metal, and I have had extensive experience with this...

My son's titanium and aluminum racing bike frames were all powdercoated, and strength is absolutely critical in that arena, especially given their incredibly light weight and severe stresses.

Hell, most colored wheels are powdercoated from the factory.

Interesting but likely inaccurate.

I don't know anything about this but this was the response that I got from a post about a week or so ago...see link below. Either way I am 99% certain that I will stick with the OZ finish and not mess with it. I like how they stand out on the Q a lot.

Wes...yes a stealthy beater is fun, but gets old very quickly and I will not be driving around this car much longer if it continues to look like a hooptie. The only thing left is a paint job which will come in May/June when I travel to S. America for 3 weeks again. Then I will finally have a very nicely kept older Q for some fun times here and there that I will not be embarassed to drive to fancy places or pick my girl up.

I agree with leaving the wheels as is, they look perfect. Your car looks extremely classy, and like you said, you'll feel good pulling up at fancy places. I love when the valet's pull my car up for me. Your car looks money, you can't tell the paint needs help in the pics, but fresh paint will always be nice.

And powdercoating definitely doesn't weaken metal, as Greg said, most wheels are factory powdercoated.

Sometimes you have to sacrifice some performance for the sake of appearance, and I think those were a wise compromise.

It's Black. The purple part is the window tint.

The car looks very nice. Interesting that the both our cars look almost identical. I have Club Linea Misterio 17x8s and my car is the base model. Otherwise, they look like twins. I am glad when I see a Q that looks as nice as yours does.

ZINGGG .

Jesda's tint is purple, but unless my color/resolution is off, I don't see anything purple about the car or the tint.

Rob, is you car at the stock ride height? If so, any thoughts about the Eibachs?

funny thing is that I don't see any purple in the tint either....it might be the "taupe" color inside that is making it look somewhat purple. I had about the best window tint money could buy put on back in 2000 and I have yet to notice any purple tint.....maybe it is time to redo the tint?

The car is dropped with Eibach Springs and the Tokico Blues. I love every bit of the eibach and would never ever go back to stock springs and shocks. It is so nice to not have the front end nose dive downwards when I hit the brakes really hard and also to not see that huge gap between the fender and the tire. Funny thing is that 99% of people can't tell the car has been lowered and I have people at the race track tell me all the time that I should lower the car...they flip when I tell them it is lowered. I have the Stillen Camber adjustments on the front so just looking from the tires alone you could not tell if it had been lowered.

Sorry Rob, Ididn't mean that as a zing. Every black car I see, with lighter interior colors, makes the tint look funny. I have had 3 black cars with tinted windows, and they all end up looking bluish purple after a few years. I have not tried the new ceramic or metal tints. I used to use 3M's best. I tinted my mother's front storm door, and with the white wood door behind it, it looked purple. When I painted the door brown, the tint looked fine.

On my monitor, in the first pictures, the windows look purple to me. It could be my color is off on the PC.

Dont hate...

Purple in window tint is from the film dye changing. It is the result of a cheap and ineffective way of producing film, and does nothing to reduce infrared.

I don't see any purple on Robs.

no hating hear....I did not know if I was just getting gradually use to the slow changing color and never noticed the change. I am glad it still all looks black. I have been thinking about putting a very very light tint across the entire windshield for the past 2 years (illegal I know) but it will be so light that it will not be noticeable and will just take the glare off the sun beating down into the front of the car through the windshield. They have some metal tint that is almost 99% colorless yet somehow blocks the UV rays and reduces the glare.

I had tint on my 04 Prius on windshield and hated it...it was 3m's finest and I could see a little distortion....I've got sensative eyes......

never thought of that one...that would drive me nuts. Maybe I will just deal with it like I have for the past several years. Thanks for the tip.

I have a tinted out windshield and the tint is very clear. You can tell the difference though when you go from my car to another. Night and day....literally.

I'd leave those wheels alone, they look great just the way they are!

You did say it was "lowered", but I may have missed by how much?

Just curious because I'm gettin ready to put 18x8 350Z, 30mm offset, 6 spokes on my Black 94Q, and heck, bought a geetar I didn't need, 3 round trip airline tickets to Col. Springs, and now the refridgerator won't shut off......tires will be delayed a couple of weeks....

Nice looking car, I think I need a trunk spoiler!!!!! :-)

I have the eibachs on the car...but apparently I have 300ZX Eibachs. They are generally the same except for the spring rate according to Eibach and should not pose a problem. They don't make the Eibachs anymore, but contact NICO jamesmost and he will forward you the contact info on who probably has the last set or two in the US.

you can't run a 245/45/18 tire in the front with eibachs...no room at all and I am barely clearing with my 245/40/18 setup. Jason (heavy duty) was scrapping also when he put 245/45/18 in the fronts with his Eibach Q.

FYI: (not to discount what Rob has said, as I'm sure it's accurate in his case)...

I have 255/40/18 in the front (26.2" OD) with Eibachs and have no clearance issues.

A 245/45/18 (26.6" OD) shouldn't make too much difference, and a 245/40 (25.7" OD) may not have a sufficient load rating for the car.

OEM OD is 26.1", so use that as a benchmark.

The 300ZX Eibachs may provide a somewhat deeper drop, which may be why Rob's got a little less clearance (although it certainly looks no lower than mine).

The 255/40 might be a wise alternative, since it'll only be .1" larger OD (but be cautious as few tires in this size have sufficient load rating as well).

I have come to the conclusion that "load ratings" are just a real pain in the a$$ thing to be mindful of that really limit tire choice availability.

Actually, they are a good indication of the overall tire performance envelope, especially in how they relate to slip angles. Q45tech's posts explain this.

Don't you mean "posted speed limits"?

I'm inclined to agree somewhat, but there's a seat-of-the pants difference in a 95H and a 99Y. Seriously.

speed limits....hmm that reminds me that it is now safe (somewhat) to run up to 145-150mph in my car with the new tires. After the car gets out of the dealer late next week to bump up the timing to 17 degrees and an alignment I will have to test my new shoes out.
