Ok, after not buying almost anything i didnt need for the last 6 months, i finally got another check from my school for $750. i kinda feel like buying something, but im not sure if i want to. buuuuuut, heres a list if i do get something:

Car Rice: stuff like pedals, shift knob, gauges(mostly cause i'd like to know how hot my car is), etc

Car parts: my engine mounts (think my dad is getting these though), some new TC rods (needed cause its creakin' like a mother), thermostat for my fan, or maybe some new tires.

Car audio: maybe something new here. my buddy works at Best Buy and gets mad discounts. i was thinking a new head unit and new speakers, but really all i need is a new antenna so i can listen to the radio. that and maybe an amp so my speakers sound better up high.

PC stuff: maybe some DDR ram, new speakers, PC rice, etc. again, friend at best buy with the mad discounts

RC car stuff: need a few things for the RC car, should be the least expensive.

Books, CDs, and Movies: exactly like the thing says. maybe i'll just get some entertainment stuff.

well, i gotta run and get to school, but im open to suggestions. im not going to spend all of the money. so i guess that limits what i can get. infact, i really need to keep the stuff prices low.

Hm....for about half to 3/4 of that money you can have a crazy Wet T shirt contest at a college...that will more than cover a good amount of discount beer, and some 'prize' money for the contestants....(beer and $$ = naked girls 99% of the time)....if you're smart about it, it will be video taped and pictures taken which you will later turn around and sell to make that money back.

possibilities are endless

Why not a little from column A, a little of column B.. The car parts list sounds like a good investment. Especially the thermostat so you can tell if you're about to overheat.

Then again, the naked chicks thing is not an idea to be taken lightly either.

And, nice sig Megaseth. That was my favorite Chappelle show episode yet.

I agree with boy wonder. Fix everything maintainence wise on your car that you can while you have money. How about some tires if yours are worn too?

haha, i cant wait for Season 2 on DVD. as for car parts, i know i'll need new tires soon, mine are almost bald. and i can live with squeaky TC rods for a while. And ithink my folks are getting my mounts for me. I would really like to get a set up temp, oil temp, and oil pressure gauges, but this might be rice. who cares, i can take some flaming when i comes to safety. i've also been thinking about getting a plane ticket for my GF to fly to kentuky. If anyone has connections with a plane service that flys out of DFW area to KY, i would really really really appreciate it if a discounted ticket could be had. other than that, i really dont know what to do. this money has to last till summer, at least. hell, maybe i'll get the car painted. or at least the frame fixed and primer it. then Matt will stop giving me ****. :D

What about these mofos? Only $205.

Tires are always good too. I'd fix anything that's worn on your car before going with the "show, not go" stuff.

Unless your car needs repair, I'd bank/invest most of it until you need it for something more important, like a security deposit on an apartment. Bear in mind at some point your parents are going to stop subsidizing you. Dad.

Well, they're going to help me till i get out of college, or at least till my junior or senior year. they arent paying for tuition, and im driving right now, i dont eat much, so if i get an apartment they'll help pay, but i WILL be able to get a part time job and help contribute to food, rent, gas, and stuff.

I had to work my way thru college as well, and I was surprised how money I had to spend after graduation to get established. Think about your upcoming expenses. In addition to the security deposit on the 1st apartment, you still have to furnish it, set it up, relocation expenses, a business wardobe. You're going to take your car's insurance policy in your own name. If you plan on getting married, there's an engagement ring you'll need to buy, a honeymoon. I'm just scratching the surface here. Most kids coming out of college aren't walking into $100,000 jobs with a $10,000 signing bonus. I'm not suggesting to avoid spending any money on fun stuff, but I am suggesting keeping an eye toward what's coming up shortly. Sorry if I sound like a dad.

No no, your advice is very good. I do agree about kids walking out of school, especially business people, thinking that they're going to get hired right off the bat. Luckily,my school does internships with lots of other places so i will have the opportunity to get actual experiece with an engineering firm before i graduate. I do plan on saving and putting some away when i get that job, that way i do have funds set aside to help me when i get out so im not full of high hopes and an empty account thinking i will get some baddass job.

That's cool. If I were a student looking to invest mad-money on my daily driver car (outside of repairs), I'd avoid the rice or performance mod stuff, as you won't see a dime of that money spent when you sell the car and selling it is inevitable. I had my 240 for 14 years which is longer than most). IMHO the audio route is the best plan because it's an improvement that can be easily transferred to your next car. The only upgrades I did to the car I owned in college was Cibie fog lights, (I worked for a dealer so I got 'em cheap) bigger sway bars (not expensive), bigger/better tires (when the old ones wore out), koni shocks (when the originals wore out), and a nice stereo. I sold the Cibie's for almost what I paid for them, and I transferred the stereo to my next car. I know a lot of younger folks are pre-occupied with squeezing extra ponies out of their 240's, but the truth is it's really not necessary. I used to take my stock 240 the track with all-season radials regularly, and I had no problem lapping cars with far more horsepower. Just food for thought..Enjoy college
