I have a 1992 nissan 240sx, and i have a serious problem. I just got my engine rebuilt it only has around 800 miles in it. When i turned on the car the engines starts shaking and the Rpm's go crazy, they start at a 1000, drop to 800 back up to 900. it crazy, I also removed the AIV valve, and i plugged all the hoses up really well and added a cone filter (K&N). but the car its been acting funny since before i dit the whole filter change. I need help. And my engine mounts are ok. i dont know why it shakes first i though it was electric so i change the spark plugs and spark plug wires, i change them for NGK's. I dont know what to do anymore.

do you mean on the Air filter? what i think could be causing the problem would be that i have the cone filter with the whole addapter and they are able to move freely wouldnt that mess up the maf, and also i think there might be a problem with a vacumm hose the ones that were conected to AIV. i dont know what to think anymore.

The filters are oiled.. if the filter has too much oil on it and it gets on the MAFS it will phunk things up

Make there are no leaks in the intake system... I had purchased a cheap little cone adapter off ebay for like $12.. they didnt line up perfectly so I placed some silicon around the innercircle portion of the adapter and had no issues.. other than my disconnected AIV hose that got me a ticket marked as "no smog device".

Grr.

yeah check your connections from the maf back... and make sure its mounted properly...any turbulence can cause some funny things to happen... other than that its process of elimination!

Also what you may want to check is for any air leaks at all. Any air leaks would mean that there is unmetered air going into the throttle body. In short what happens is, the ECU thinks there is X amount of air getting in. But in reality there is more getting in. So the computer doesnt see the extra air and you end up with a lean condition in the combustion chamber, and that is never a good thing.
