I have an idea that I think might really improve turbo intake cooling: What if you where to take an S13's AC system, and re-route it so that instead of having it go into the cabin's heat exchange box underneath the dash, the lines went to a cooling coil in the engine's intake. Example: take a 6" section of 3" dia. PVC tubing, put a coil of 1/4" copper tubing inside it, and connect one end of the copper tubing to the AC compressor, and the condensor on the other. That way the air going into the engine would be "actively" cooled.

So, what do you guys think? Is it possible, or would it even be effective?

Calculate how much 24,000 BTU will cool the air at high flows od turbo.

Easier to heat sink [cool sink with AC] a quantity of water [few gallons] to 33F then pump circulate into intercooler.

Ford has patent of this for turbo diesels.

Its a "cool" idea. but the S-13 early model used R12 freon. If yoy had a freon leak in the intercooler and that freon went through the engine you would have fosgene[sp?] gas coming out the tail pipe,NOT "cool" very deadly.

don't the new f-150 lighting use these for quick 40hp boosts, maybe they were planning to but didn't?

...One, aren't the new Lightnings going to be on the new Ranger, not the F150?Two, aren't they NA? How would they have an intercooler?

Im not an engineer but I can tell you right now that the hp loss turning the AC compressor is going to be more than the increase in hp due to the cooler charge.

It was pateneted by Ford to cool a reservoir with the AC for a ~30 second liquid cooling cycle of the incoming charge.

What I always wondered about was if you could hook up your AC compressor to your intake and use it as a supercharger. That would be pretty funny if it worked, though I have no idea how much the compressor can flow.
