Hey guys so I have been doing some research. And I have got some questions in which direction I should go. I have a good running and driving vert Z (minus Z problems) but they are minor and I got them tamed. I have another T-Top Z with a bad engine everything else is good except interior is ultra beat. So here is my question. I keep going back and forth about gettin a twin turbo setup somewhere not sure how much they cost. Or I was doing some reading on using a n/a block and building essentially a TT engine. Now I have plenty of threads where I can compare and actually make this happen. But would it be cost effective. I don't wanna spend the initial 3k it cost to buy a vg30dett but I do have a core sitting in my driveway for free. That I can tear down and piece it all together over the next year. Thanks to the help of all the useful information that the awesome members of nicoclub.com provide for me! What do you guys think? I was tossing around the idea of selling the other Z and thought it would be fun to do something like this that takes no money up front. Let me know your input Thanks

seperate the head and block, take them to a machine shop to have them leak test them and ask them if your spare engine is worth rebuilding.
sell it for scrap/parts if its not, rebuild it if its still fixable. engine shops dont charge much more to assemble and actually prefer it so they get the tolerances right and can check its assembled correctly. you're probably looking at getting it rebored and surfaced anyway. they can advise you on different setups, cam, driveshaft, timing, headers for an optimal build. you can ask them about coated bores and forged pistons or whatever you want and they can advise on a price scale depending on what you're willing to spend.

I wasn't trying to go crazy on forged. Just create a TT engine with the N/A block I already have. The heads are the same? Just gotta buy TT cams, TT Rods and wrist pins, TT pistons, TT injectors, standalone system or TT ecu. It might cost more in the long run just spread out over time rather then buying a TT engine. I have a shop I can hone the block after getting it pressure tested. And have heads done at a shop to Have them port and polish and pressure tested and have any word done I need to it. Correct me if I'm wrong but it all should work together. Maybe a new oil pan unless I could just tap and or weld a bung on for oil lines for turbos. Or just do a custom build, with low compression pistons, forged internals and custom grind cams to match?

Skim down to engine section, it tells you all the differences. The only thing I saw were that the exhaust valves are stronger for the tt, and the holes for the lines are only plugged off with bolts

I have been reading this from another site. A guy created to simplify N/A to TT swap. And there are a few other differences. But I think I could make it work.

The oil squirters are the only real block differences, they shoot at different angles. With all the right parts and engine management you should be fine

Thanks I'm pulling motor this weekend and starting the tear down process! I'll probably be blowing this post up with questions. Thanks
