At work I somehow always manage to park in front a crappy sprinkler head that waters everything, except the lawn. By the time I get out, I have a whole bunch of water spots on my windshield, which make it difficult to see. I tried just using the windshield washer, but it has no effect on the water spots. I’m planning on getting some new blades and changing the wiper fluid but before I do I wanted to see if anyone else had the same issue. Was it worthy enough of driving down to the dealership and complaining about it? I started carrying Windex and paper towels in my trunk to clean my windshield before driving off, (yeah its that bad)

the topic header alone was worth the giggle!

but sounds like a hard water issue with the water supply for sprinkler not a dealership problem in my opinion!

My problem are the bugs. They hit the windshield but the wipers don't seem to flick them off. More of a smear or it just skips over them. I could use a bug remover washer fluid, but it tend to leave white trails after it dries. I'd try better blades and maybe a stronger washer fluid.

I've got the same problem. I hate bugs.

Using Rain-X seems to make it easier getting this stuff off. Overall, I agree the spray pattern... what there is of one is pretty useless. You rely on hte wiper itself to spread the washer fluid. It's a very poor design. Our Altima is the same way.

Some American cars seem much better about having a real spry nozzle that sprays a fan or fluid evenly across the windshield. These might plug easier, but we have a Dodge Dakota at work we affectianately call "rust bucket or RB1" with 190,000 abusive miles on it and it's one feature that suprisingy still works great. I think I remember some older Mazdas and Fords being good at this.

Boy was I disappointed to see what this thread was really about!

Being the Mom I am I was going to suggest diaper wipes!

I agree that it's not a wiper problem as much as a water problem. Like the poster above me said try vinegar...if that doesn't work maybe a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? I use Magic Erasers on EVERYTHING and it's never failed to clean anything.

We have lovebugs galore here and I have a huge oak tree right next to my driveway that spews out Spanish moss, leaves, acorns and little seed pod things (and 6 more total in my yard). My car stays clean all of about one day before it's covered with one thing or another, and most times all of the above!

Thanks for all your feedback. Im off to get new blades and a different wiper fluid. My wife suggested parking away from the sprinklers. I think she might be on to something...

Just be careful with those Magic Erasers on any part of your car. They can leave scratches.
