The GTR gearbox doesn't just blow synchros at 500+ HP. They break break up because of people who can't shift very well. Grind them a couple times at 500+ HP and you'll definetely need replacement synchros.. but they typically don't "blow".. it's the driver who does this.

Has anyone taken a RB25 GB to Level 10 yet?? They do pretty good work. I'm quite sure they can fix a lame sync problem. Definitly a cheaper route then the HKS gearset or Holinger GB. Just a thought...

Idiots kill synchros.. its not a design fault. If there is any design fault in the boxes, its the rubber insert in the shifter..

3rd gear busts in GTR boxes are due to torque and gear design. They tend to break when you are runnign ~3000Nm ATW of torque with the delivery of it over a ~200rpm span. Most upgraded boxes run synchro less so you can crash the boxes for a fast shift and also do they can get more width in the gear.

But Dog Boxes make horrible daily drivers...The whole GB thing to me is easy to bypass. Heavy wt redline with a lighter clutch. I'll change frictions plates all day if I can keep my GB in one piece. The non sprung hub 4 finger race disks are just stupid hard on the driveline.

But thats just my .02

Not alot of point having a clutch that slips is you make 600hp atw! :)Torque amount and delivery is what kills 3rd.. you won't bust 1st even from launching from 8000rpm with anitlag on a tripple plate clutch.. but soon as the power comes on in 3rd.. pop..

I'd still like to see what Levele 10 could do with a GB. To bad I'm not an RB guy at the moment. Perhaps another day...
