This isn't specifically about Nissan Trucks, it's about Trucks in general.

I've seen two variation in how the rear shocks on trucks are mounted.

Some of them are mounted so that both shocks are on one side of the axle (usually the front I believe). Others have one shock in front of and other behind the axle.

What is there a difference? What benefit or drawback is there to either set up? This is all just for my own knowledge. I won't be buying a truck anytime soon.

TIA.

I believe the shocks mounted on opposite sides helps with axle twist.

The opposed shocks do help to dampen axle twist, which is formally called axle wrap. It's a Chevrolet invention.
