So I Have a 1993 Nissan Maxima SE, I have absolutely no problems motorwise, but when I got it it had a slight whistle whenever I brake. :wtf2:

I have already replaced the brakes, in which it continued. My mechanic suggests it is probably either the rotors, which show no wear, or the brakes, witch also show no wear {Brand new}, he told me I may have to get better breaks that are not so hard, because I only paid $17.99 at AutoZone, after telling me to brake hard and see if the squeak goes away. In which it never went away.

I realized that if i were to brake very hard, I'll get the squeak but once I hit something around 5 miles an hour it stops before I am completely stopped as I brake hard, if i hold the brake. In the same situation, if I were to be going fast, and I try to break gradually, I hear the whistle until I completely stop. It happens whenever i apply medium brake pressure?

What I think? :gotme
I don't know anything really about cars, but want to learn, any suggestions or anything will help, even explaining how i could check to see what it is would be fine, and I would be willing to get it done.
What may this be, Any Suggestions? Do you think my suggestion is correct?

If you paid $17.99 for them, that means you get the semi-metallic pads. Maybe even the organics. Take them back and upgrade to the ceramics and you'll be good to go.

Haha I Finally fixed it. I learned a lot of stuff about my car. It had actually shut off one day, and i needed a fuel pump so installed it. I resently took all the wheels off and checked the brakes and rotors, most of the brakes were almost brand new, but everything was very rusty, so i oiled them all with the oil engine, the bad oil i got when i changed the filter and engine flushed the whole car, it runs much better now. The oil made the brakes less effective at first but by the end of the day they were back to normal and the WHISTLE WAS GONE! If anyone knows of any bad effects from putting lubrication on brakes with engine oil tell me now so i can dread the mistake lol. :chuckle: But, for now i'm just happy the squeak is gone, it was in my right two wheels O.o...

However, I also have a very slight squeak every time i go over my college speed bumps lol. But not worried about it, so quiet I don't care too much, but i assume one of these days it's gonna get louder...

I'm not sure where you got that idea. You just broke the basic rule in brake servicing - never allow brake friction material to come in contact with oil, grease, lubricant, etc., which can cause brake failure. You also open up yourself to liability issue. If you are involved in an accident your insurance company can decline coverage and the other party can sue you for driving with defective brakes.

You could have used ceramic or better quality semi-metallic pads and have the rotors turned instead of lubricating the pads. I hope you're not driving in NorCal as your car is an accident waiting to happen. Have it corrected before it's too late.
