I have a problem

hey NICOCLUB how are you guys? my names Eddy, and Ive been lurking the forums for quite a while now (months) ive been here for almost about a year but never really posted anything.

well onto my problem.

i have a 90 piggy with the single slammer that doesnt want to turn on. so what happened was ive been having some problems here and there like having the car leaking gas when i fill it up.. but thats not the main concern for now

my car has not turned on for more than a month and i will explain what it is that happened..

It always turned on without problems. The day it stopped working, i had my car down my block. i turned it on without hesitation, working fine. drove it up the block fine no problem, pulled up to my driveway, charged my dads car with it (ive done this plenty of times and never had any problems with it.) so his car turns on after about 20 seconds of charge.. i backed up to the street, turned my car off,, check my oil level because it has been suckin up oil and i know my gasket is going.. but w.e. it stil worked fine.. while it was off, i added more oil, but im not sure if this is the main cause, i had 10w40 in it and i added about half a quart of 10w30 oil in it. i checked the oil and it went to the max. now i know its not completely fill until i turn the car on and let it circulate for a bit. after all this, i put the cap on and the dipstick back on, and tried to turn it on. this is when it was just cranking but didnt turn on. and about 5 minutes before that it turned on just fine!!

so i was there trying to turn it on for about 5 mins,, and i checked everything in the bay and everything was fine. i had my friend check it out and we found out the fuel pump fuse blew, i replaced it, and still it doesnt turn on. i hear the FP whirring when it is in the ON position. i have checked the battery, charged it, still nothing. i have NGK spark plug wires and spark plugs, checked the spark plugs and they were shot, so those were replaced. still nothing

so far ive done the following with no luck:charged batterychanged spark plugs (same one just new)changed spark plug cableschanged FP fuse

what ive also want to add is that the car cranks but doesnt start, and it was unexpected, so can it be my oil since i added 2 different types in it even thought it was mostly 10w40 and a little 10w30?

im on a supertight budget and i need my car asap! i would love to fix it for xmas. i dnt have money to tow it to a mechanic, and have them fix it. i dont have money to be replacing stuff and the car still not work. i just want it to work for me to get to school

check for spark. putting a different weight oil in won't make your car not start . how far over full did you fill it up?

honestly im not too sure how to check for spark. i will check youtube if there are any videos to do it and my friends father told me my ign coil too but like i said i want to make sure its one thing i need to replace not guess and check you know? i didnt fill it up past full.. it hit MAX with the car off, and i know it will be less with the car on.. and when i checked it after the car was started it was right on MIN, or the lowest it was.

any other help would be greatly appreciated!!

You need two things to make any motor run: Gas and spark.

Check for spark, pull a spark plug boot, stick a screwdriver into it and then hold the screwdriver near something that is grounded and see if it sparks while turning the engine over (don't hold the screwdriver btw, hold the rubber boot).

Check for fuel, pull the hose off the bottom of the filter and see if gas comes out of it when the fuel pump is on.

If you are missing one of the above you know where to start looking for problems.

Make that three things: Gas, compression, and spark. Provided your engine is in relatively good condition, compression should be the last place to look for a problem. I would suspect the electrical system first, if you used your car to jump another car recently. A spark check is definitely in order. Make sure you ground your spark plug away from the well: If fuel sprays out while you attempt to get a spark, bad things like unintentional combustion could occur. Be safe and work smart, it saves money and emergency room visits!

Yeah check for spark, check for fuel. Maybe the ECU is not gating the injectors on.

ok so today i ended up getting new spark plug wire since one got messed up. i charged my battery, tried to crank and still nothing.. i will check my ecu tomorro to see what codes it throws at me.

she sounds like she wants to turn over but there is something stopping her. i will try to upload a vid for you guys tomorrow so you can see what i am talking about.

does anybody have any ideas? i know it must be something so simple and stupid. maybe a relay?? idk,, how would i check something like that?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Put fuel in it, I think your gas gauge is off, its common issue where the gauge misreads.

Fresh gas and fuel filter too. Prime the pump with the line open and clear the line.

i hope it does misread but it never did misread before and like i said i was driving it fine and that same day it turned on then it never turned on again after the jump start,,, i will put 5 in gas for it and see if it does anything but i doubt it.. i hope im wrong thoughh

ok so i took off the fuel pump today and accomplished some things:

1. learned how to take it off thanks to chiltons manual 2. my gas meter, gauge IS working fine, not misreading because i saw gas in my tank3. i connected the pos and neg straight to the battery. the fuel pump DOES whir,, BUT it is verrryyyy verrryyy low,, like i barely heard it at first

so what will i do? well tomorrow i will take it to my fathers mechanic up the block from my house, and ask him if it is ok. most likely it isnt. i hope it isnt honestly so i can just buy a new one and move on.

if it isnt, should i get an ebay one? like this one:

or should i just buy a walbro fuel pump while im at it?any help on chosing one will be greatly appreciated.

so i took my fuel pump out and found out it dont pump nothing at all so i just ordered another one =]
