i have a problem brakes

so i bought my 240 from a guy off cragslist and he said the brakes dnt work because of master brake cylinder was missing a bolt so it was leaking is this true cause i dnt wanna go and spend my money on a brake booster or master brake cylinder if that isnt the promblem also you cant even press the brake pedal down almost as if it was locked up some one plz help

the brake pedal gets stiff when the car isnt started and you keep pressing it but fo you BMC problem a bolt would not cause it to leak unless by bolt he means the line that connects and thread in to the BMC. bolts only hold the BMC in place. if its leaking you need a new BMC.
