Now amsoil doesn't have a oil with the name high mileage but what i was wondering is does there oil have the same additives that say Mobil 1 high mileage would?

I have a slow slow rear main seal seep and trying to slow it or stop it so i can wait for next summer. so what 10w-30 be safe on the motor and maybe slow the leak down? the winter where i live gets to -5 that's about it. And if amsoil isn't good for my problem whats the best high mileage oil castrol Mobil 1 or max life?

My qx4 has 170k on it so i know q's got alot of miles on him. I have 5w30 max life in him right now. thanks for all the help

The words "Hige Mileage" are just marketing gimmicks. Sure, the HM oil may have a slightly different detergent or formula, but in the end, it is just oil.

I haven't done my oil home work, but the HM stuff could be a Synth blend instead of a full synthetic.

Straight from their webpage:
Mobil1 wrote:Engines with more miles on them sometime need a little extra care. That’s why there’s Mobil Clean High Mileage. Designed for vehicles with more than 75,000 miles, this advanced formulation helps protect seals and prolong engine life. With 16 percent more cleaning additive than our conventional oil*, Mobil Clean High Mileage helps control the formation of sludge and harmful deposits to keep engines running cleaner longer.
I would stick with what ever oil you have or try the the Mobil 1 HM. Why do you feel you need to switch other than the RMS leak?

The rea main is the only leak on the motor... the motor is in great shape clean like a brand new motor and trying to keep it that way.... Can bad transmission fluid make these transmission act crazy like sliping and high rev before change gears? its only done it 2 times and for only like 10 mins than normal rest of the time.

If you are suspect on any fluid and its condition, I would send it in to be analyzed. There is a place called Blackstone labs that can do this.

Request a "free" sample bottle. Fill bottle with fluid needing analyzed. Fill out paper. Include $22 check or CC #, wait 3 weeks, receive email on results. It really is that simple.

The analysis can tell you if there is abnormal metal wear, water in fluid, etc.

If you are serious, the $22 bucks isn't that big of a deal.
