Yesterday, our work has a team event to some miniature golf place. Couple of my coworkers share ride with me. One lady says my car is nice..very quiet and spacious. Then she has a question.

Is this a Camry?

Hahahaha, wow. Yeah, a lot of people are completely clueless about cars.

My sister swore up and down that a guy at her school drives a Ferrari. Some pretty rich kids go to that school, so I figured it was possible. I asked her to describe it, and when she to "it has 4 doors" I asked her "So...he's the Sultan of Brunei?" Apparently the kid bought "real Ferrari stickers" and put them on his 90s Japanese sedan. It seems the stickers have the desired effect. I'd bet 3/4 of that school thinks it's a real Ferrari. Certainly better than having your Q mistaken for a Camry...

I love it when I have the hood of the Q open and people with enough automotive knowledge to count intake runners ask "wait...is that a V8?!"

Even more fun is when they insist that it's FWD, and try to argue with you about it...

The Camry is one of those things... know-nothings buy them because they've heard of them, which causes more know-nothings to buy them because they've heard of them.

Eventually, "Camry" becomes synonymous with "car".

I dig that too. Everyone assumes V6 FWD. Or' "how did you get a V6 to sound like that?" Gave it two more cylinders... What's worse is the 90's Cadillac guys who KNOW their Caddie is RWD. I had an argument once with a co-mechanic who insisted his Caddie was RWD. Good thing he worked on Semi's and not at a Cadillac dealer.

First time I ever really took notice of the VH spider manifold was on a 300ZX with a VH swapped in and a cutout in the hood for plenum clearance. I thought "Why on earth did they swap to FWD?!?!?!?" Then I quickly realized why it was facing that way.
