I have a general engine question (Im new)

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

well i was looking to do a swap in my 240 from the single cam to the duel cam ka..but i just wanted to know what are some general things to look at or ask about the motor if its used?

well..whats your budget for one?...if your looking at a budget for 2k..just drop a sr or a rb25 in as they will be more power stock than you could get with a built NA ka24de...if ya got your hands on a ka for like $500. and under..then you need to look at condition..ask if there has ever been a rebuild..or an overbore..has it spun a bearing?..or blown a head gasket?..if there are gobs of greese on the thing and it looks like noone maintaind it properly..walk away and save the cash...dont be in a rush when buying an engine..allso..ka's are notorious for haveing casting voids and bubble from the casting prosess when they make the block...look for small pits that look like holes..if ya see those..walk couse the block wont handle high boost or high CR's with out issues..hope this helps alittle bit..good luck on what ever you decide.

well i was thinking of getting this ka off this guy he said he fixed it up to where it has like 370hp and 275torque? without running boost? and that helps me alot thanks

impossible hp and torque gains without boost

that's a rip off

there's no telling what is wrong with that motor

do not buy it

fuken240 is rite man..dont be played..if ya can get it for $100. bucks or less..then buy it for spare parts..lol..thats all that worth...there is no way that a ka can make that much HP without boost...he's hidin sumpin.

yeah see thats what i was thinkn! i asked him to "so your not running boost on it?" he said no that it was all motor? i found it hard to believe. would any of you guys happen to know where i can buy some good quality suspension parts but on a low budget? (online prefurably)

check the condition of the fluids in the motor if any and have a compression test done.
