I have a 1994 Q45. black on black w/130,000 mi .Its not perfect but pretty damn close for a 94'. I have 2003 i30 rims on it wrapped in bridgestone tires (simple). Already did the basics to upgrade the sound system so now its technical work time but when it comes to the tech im on cloud 9 compared 2 some of you guys. if theres any info you have to help me out on what i need to do next leave 1 here. I plan on keeping this car for a long time so I try to take care of it well. I have plenty of pics but havent quite figured out how 2 post them though. I hit the image button and this [IMG][/IMG] came up. Im sure its simple but I could use a quick tip. The pics would be a great place to start!

For the pics, just put each url between them, like this - [img.]url[/img.] - no periods, though.

The best thing you can do to start on the rest of the car is to start pulling connectors in the engine bay and cleaning them up, especially the MAF and CAS connectors. See if you can find a can of BG 44K and run that through a tankful of good gas - best if you can give it some exercise on the highway with the 44K. That'll give you a better performance baseline.

You can check your injectors and knock sensor with these instructions:

Welcome to NICO!

As with any device, it'a all about condition and service history. Very easy to go forward from there.

Good stuff. Though I must say, from what I've learned on the site, you're working backwards. Mechanical perfection is first, then audio and the like. Maybe it's not so bad if you had a perfectly running car and didn't have anything else to do.

But at least you're there.

Where at in Central Jersey? Are you a 609? Or a 732/908?

Glad to have you on the board.

Ok...first of all you guys are right it does sound like im doin things backwards. So let me clarify. I got the car in August of 2006 for $2700. 6 days after I got it a girl i worked with hit me in the parking lot leaving work. Her insurance gave me more $$ than i needed so i got the fennder fixed that was damaged, i got the front bumper fender and door repainted, and i got new pinstripes all the way around. The day after i bought the car i drove it 2 and a half hours to PA without any problems at all. Everything was stock when i got the car but since having it ive changed the rear speakers to pioneers and rewired them, put subs and amps in the trunk and a new head unit. Ive changed the alternator, head gasket, oil and fuel filters and put synthetic oil in it. It has a few small issues but nothing major at all. ill get to the issues in my next post after you view the pics.

I live in the 908 areacode. Anybody nearby?

I put the pics in a photobucket album and put the link in between this [IMG][/IMG].... hope it works

You replaced the headgasket? Left or right side? I'm impressed, thats a nasty job with the chain and all.

I remember this car being on Craigslist about a few months ago. It looked mint. I told me friend to pick it up. He wanted to but couldn't come up with the funds. I'd really like to see some pics of this car.

ok. now that I finally figured out how to post pics I can moooove on. I would love to take the credit for the head gasket but yea..it was too much work so my mechanic did it but I've always felt he didnt do it properly. He "said" he chaned both of them but the cracked one was the right one which is harder to get to. I did however change the alternator (without moving the a/c compressor...idk if thas normal) and I also did all the other work like the cv boots, air, oil and gas filters, tires (j/p) etc...

I go to school near bloomfield but im from around the Union township/Plainfields/Elizebeth Areas...

Yeah, this car was on craigslist for a short time because deep inside I knew i didnt wanna sell it. I do alot of traveling and the gas consumption was rediculous so i got angry and had my girl out it on there for me lol... I had a few potential buyers but none seemed serious enough or like they really had every penny of the money and also i wasnt too serious about it so of course it never got sold.

I need a tune-up and i dont want to do it. My father used to work on cars alot but hes getting old and refuses to touch another engine so im S.O.L. I'm pretty shure i could easily find out but what are the best tune-up products and model #'s to use?

I put the car down for the winter and been driving a honda accord in the meantime to save on gas and get around better in the bad weather. The Q is due for inspection and will def. pass once i get the 3rd taillight cut out of my rear window tints (A$$-hole i kno...i had taken it out when i got them done and forgot to tell the tintman here was a 3rd light).

ok has def. enuff talkin 4 now. Hit me up about anything

Hit me up and I can take you to Van Meter's. He's the best guy in the Tri-State for Q45's. He was a Senior Tech for Infiniti.

You'd be surprised at the mods you can do without having to do too much. Just getting the First gear start TCU and the NICO ECU will give you a whole new ride.

Well, you already have the first gear start, but the NICO ECU is like a 10 minute install. Removes the rev limiter and adds a nice little 30 HP boost.

I'm planning on getting tints all the way around. I won't be able to get the free state inspection anymore though. I can worry about that in 09.

Glad to find another Q owner so close. It seemed like the Midwest and California Q's had all the fun.

But it doesn't have the TSB! So not everything.

Every new owner needs to know that spending a few hours reading the previous posts here can save you thousands down the road, especially if one does so before purcahsing any car.

What he said.

But it's not a bad idea to have a physical copy either. I have the 94 FSM in .pdf format as well as the Physical FSM for 90-93. Soon as I figure out how to get that into .pdf format, the list will be complete.

Sure. It's a little juvenile. I've had it since I was 16 and into the whole "mob" scene. CapoStatus230.
