I own a 2007 Maxima SL with 3400 Miles on it I bought it new and I have the oil changed every 3 months at the local Nissan dealer a few months ago I the smell of anti-freeze I can't see any leaks and the coolant temperature gauge is in normal range the car doesn't have to run long to get the smell. I told the Tech at Nissan and they said they did a pressure test and they found nothing. But I still have the smell. I have another problem also on the same side as the oil filter the right side of the engine there is this bracket I don't know what the bracket holds ,it supposed to have two treaded bolts with a nut on top and bottom and a bold in the middle. The one closest to the front of the engine top nut was shared off. I called Nissan but the person that I was talking to said they didn't know what I was talking about and to bring the car in which I made an appointment for. Does anyone know what this bracket is and what its supports there is a wire on top of it which i think is the coolant sensor. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to NICO!

To be honest I am not real familiar with the 3.5. If this were a 3.0 I might be of more assistance. Now, you can download the FSM (Factory Service Manual) HERE. This could be a start for you to find out what that part is and to troubleshoot your coolant smell issue. Hope this helps.

I Really appreciate your help I think I narrow the part down with the broken bolt as the "front Engine mount insulator" Thank you for the link to the manual. As far as the coolant smell Nissan will have to deal with that also. Once again thank you very much for your help!

Hi, I took it to them today and they said they couldn't find anything wrong they checked all the hoses, clamps and did a pressure test, like they said they did the last time and they found nothing and they said sometimes its just normal to smell anti freeze..I am very sensitive to that smell because I had a Nova once that blew a head gasket on a very slow moving highway. The other concern I had about the front engine mount insulator also wasn't a concern the tech (mechanic) told me it was a stud not a bolt but I still can't figure out why they would use a stud, a bold, and a double side bolt on the same mount. My mind isn't at ease but Its on record and I do have an extended warranty...lol Thank you for concern I appreciate it!

You might try taking it to another dealer for a 2nd opinion.

Don't all the dealers usually work together? I didn't purchase the car at the dealer that I use for service.

No, dealers are privately owned and operated so they won't have anything to do with each other unless they're owned by the same person or group. If you're not satisfied with one dealer, it's definitely worth seeing what others in your area have to offer.

I've taken my cars (multiple Nissans) to 3 different Nissan dealerships. I haven't been displeased with any of them, but I have a favorite since I trust the head tech at one dealer particularly.

Thank you now that I know I have options I will use them. The only thing I don't like about this dealer is that the windows they have in the waiting room that looks into the Garage area they have covered up with signs so you can't see what they are doing. When they bring my car in I usually walk around to the garage doors to look in. But that is only good in the summer...lol I was thinking since the car is under warranty and you bring it in for a particular problem(for example my problem) wouldn't they want to fix it so they make money from Nissan so if there is a problem they will want to find it? Any comments on that?
