I have a 1995 nissan 200 sx se and I need help

I have a 1995 nissan 200 sx se I have it running now but all of a sudden it will not go over 2500 RPM . It does not matter wether it is in gear or not if it revs up to 2500 it cuts back down to about 2000 RPM it has no power loss between there. When I down shift it will go over 2500. I really need an I dea what it might be. please help me

Sounds like the car is gone into LIMP mode. Check engine light on? Check MAF signal make sure something didn't come unhooked.
