What Will a Stock 1980 280ZX Manual with a strip interior do in a 1/4 and a 0-60?

Also I was wondering with a short-throw shifter, CAI, headers, full exaust, running on Mickey Thompsons do in the 1/4 and 0-60?

The guy I bought the car from said it ran low 14's is that accurate?

nope, he's wronga stock n/a S130 runs about 17 second quarter

hwo far you strip it will depend on how fast ti gets, but if you get 100 lbs out, you'll take off a thensh, if you completely strip the interior sound deadening, undercoating power steering etc you might get half a second off

the car is rated at 135 hp at the crank, adding headers might get you as much as 15 hp max, a short throw shifter makes zero power and the only way to shortent he throw on your stock trans is the cut and rethread your shifter, you can also get the shifter form an L20b powered datsun truck and shorten and rethread it, exhaust might get you another 10 hp, drag slicks of course add no power, but they get you out of the hole quicker, you can easilly knock off a thenth or 2 with good tires

now if you really want to make this a 14 second car or faster, you have 3 choices the cheapest easiest way is a turbo swap, just find a wrecked 81-83 280ZX Turbo swap it in turn up the boost and you cna get 230 whp with no ther mods, add an intercooler and you can get to 260 whp, beyond that it gets expensive

option2, stroker, use the LD crank form a diesel maxima, KA24 pistons or custome forged pieces, l24 rods and you can get 250 who fomr an n'a but it won't be cheap and you'll have to convers to tripple webbers or a stand alone engine managment system

option3, stupid high compression, you can mill the head, mill the block, shim the cam towers, and you'll still need tripple webbers or stand alone engine managment and it'll be race gas only, there are guys running 14:1 on 115 octane putting out 250 whp

Would it be easier to swap in a turbo, or swap in the whole new motor?

I have a 5-Speed Manual in my car, did it come stock with a 5-Speed manual in 1980?

5 speed manual's were the only manual option fomr 79 forward

it's easier to swap the complete turbo motor, the oil pan has to have the return fitting fomr the turbo, the distributor driveshaft is different, and it's jsut easier to swap the motor as a unit than to try swapping over all the individual parts needed
