I have an '05 350Z. I have 20K miles and went in for front brakes and found that all 4 wheels, the chromed stock wheels, are cracked. Some in more than one place, some cracked all the way thru. I called 2 dealers. One pretty much blew me off and said that they weren't covered. The other looked at the wheels and then told me that the 3 yr/36,000 mi. warranty didn't cover the chromed wheels. I have called NIssan USA and they will supposedly get back to me in the next few days thru their regional rep. I'm planning on being blown off again and am wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I'm not a car expert, just a woman who loves my Z! In the likely event that I'm shopping for tires this weekend, does anyone have any advice?? Help!

Be prepared to get blown off by the dealer. Get some extra cash for rims

And if your dealer somehow pulls through, you have the best dealership in the world.. An honest one..

But, finding an honest dealership is like winning the lottery so.. good luck!

Did you buy the car new with the wheels installed? If you did, it shares the same warranty as your car. Is your car lowered? Have you tried going to another dealer?

If you end up getting new wheels, there are many to choose from. You will need to assess the type of driving you do. Daily driver, or weekend warrior. Forged wheels are the strongest and lightweight and will cost more. Cast wheels are heavier and isnt as strong unless alot more weight(steel) is used, and are more economical. Check out this site to get some insite.

Thanks! I appreciate the help. I hate even trying to research something when I know that I'm clueless about the topic. I'm learning tho. I wanna avoid a similar problem.

The problem you are having is because the factory wheels are NOT supposed to be chromed.

This is something NNA has been telling dealers since 93 but dealers do it anyway even though it is going to happen.

The dealer most likely won't do anything for you and NNA won't because they are not the factory chrome wheels, but factory wheels that were chromed aftermarket which are not warrantied.

Sorry for the news but this is the way it rolls...

first things first, they are called "Wheels" (if you disagree please do some research before trying to argue otherwise) you might get a bit mroe respect using the correct term.... or the dealer might be an idiot as well, did you take the car to the dealer you purchesed the car from? do you have the origional warranty info? you speak with the service manager? you speak with the GM? you speak witht he dealership owner? make a hobby of them, make sure they all know who you are and what you expect, keep a level head and be insistant, if you are theere oftern enough and around other customers they are gonna want to get rid of you, maybe enough to honor their agreement
